I actually took several steps in trying to make a UotY fighting game. but it came to a screeching halt once I remembered I don't know how to remotely approach something like that other than doing the graphics (and understandably nobody wanted to volunteer who DID know)

I was gonna at least put Ulti, Ryoko, Me, Palmer, and Luster in. I was just gonna put in 8 world warriors

But yeah the big problem with that UotY list is there's not a lot of distinction between a lot of those as far as what they're uniquely contributing. You're just touching epop type users for the most part when really there's a lot to the board. It'd be like if Smash was 70% Fire Emblem Characters instead of the 60% it's currently at.

You could have Vlado JP and MWC be the Balrog, Vega and Sagat for Ulti's Bison. And ertyu and Luster are musts on principle. Then you need some niche choices like a stats topic guy, a save my contest guy, a gauntlet topic guy, a wrestling topic guy, etc etc.
