Yeah, I'm just worried about the possibility that there will be a rift here

I'm actually not concerned about James Gunn not directing because I think someone else can do just fine if not better (Infinity War was basically GOTG vol 3 for half the movie and it didn't miss a beat) but ugggh like if Dave Bautista walks out because of this, I won't blame him but it'll suck

They said Phase 4 would be different than the others

Releasing the movies as partially finished with the rest of the plot filled in via other means (storyboards, interpretive dance, action figures slamming into each other) would be different!

I thought Bautista said he'd ask Disney to release him from his contract if Gunn wasn't reinstated, not that he'd walk outright.

I mean they might release him but they might just be like "tough shit dude, deal with it" although he'd probably not try very hard in that case.

If he does leave they'll just leave him snapped or kill him off for real in A4.

And yeah it's a dumb move by Disney but I wouldn't say Gunn is entirely blameless. Panicking and deleting like 20000 tweets when this broke looked really bad.

That's the whole point - I don't think anyone but Gunn could have made the GOTG franchise what it is, but I think it's fairly likely that someone else could take over the reins and do a good job with a lot of the franchise's personality already well established.

Pretty much nothing they can do to make me watch 3 if Gunn and Bautista are gone. If someone puts in on in my house I'll walk out of the room.

I disagree. The writing, tone, music choice, characterization - basically everything in the movies were shaped by Gunn during the actual makings of the movie. There's not really a template he made that others could follow, at least not follow well enough to create the unique personality that the movies have. There's some that could come close but I doubt it would feel exactly the same.

Or it could be that one is about the way nazis are acting in the here and now and the other is about the way someone acted 8 years ago. If Disney didnt want to hire him in the first place thats fine and if Twitter wanted to ban him back then thats cool too. Instead Disney chose to fire someone they were cool with before even though he had done nothing to change that because a gamergater got his feelings hurt and decide he could whip a bunch of his racist followers into action. If you improved yourself I wouldnt want to see you get canned in the future for the things you have said in the past either. That doesnt mean your actions in the present should go ignored either so be best Ulti.

No one is saying that Gunn's free speech is being violated. Disney has every right to remove him if they deem necessary based on his previous comments. No one is saying "HE'S BEING CENSORED" because you're talking about 8 year old tweets and he doesn't have the "right" to direct GotG (unless that was added to the bill of rights while I wasn't looking).

People think its dumb because Disney is worried about its "image" when this is literally a director who made movies about children getting turned into zombies via slugs and Ellen Page raping Raine Wilson.
