Today's tropes are Bedlam House and Abandoned Hospital

Bedlam House: A dark, dank insane asylum staffed by Mad Doctors and Psycho Psychologists. Lobotomies in aisle four, sadistic Nurse Ratched figures please report for surgery. Modern psychological techniques do not exist. Electroshock therapy is handed out like lollipops at the doctor's office and we're not talking modern, painless electroshock, we're talking high voltage screaming shocks. Those padded walls haven't been scrubbed in weeks and even if they had been, the inmates would just keep writing on them. Abandoned Hospital: The creepy abandoned hospital/mental institution is a common setting in horror. Dirty tiles, broken cabinets, corpses in bloodstained lab coats/nurse uniforms, and rusted metal bed frames are all common themes. Other themes include grisly medical experiments and deformed, inhuman monsters shambling about, as well as using medical equipment as torture devices.
