Maybe they are just trying to aim for that feeling of when you realize something at the same time as the main characters

I like the DLC case. Just having a Phoenix/Maya case again is worth the price of admission for me. A lot of people hate it. Don't expect something on the scale of 5-6. It's mostly simple fanservice and not much else.

It's fine. I feel like it could've used just 1 more new character to help bolster its cast, because the ones they actually did introduce are incredibly frustrating to deal with. But I still like it. It has its moments.

The DLC case is worth playing, 'cause it's an ace attorney game and all the cases are worth playing.

I'm not sure if they should have split the cases up or not. It was interesting starting 6-5 and being kind of surprised that there was a murder to clear up BEFORE going to Khura'in, but it kind of made the proceedings feel like a sideshow, it's not really until Phoenix shows up to be honest that I felt like I was supposed to be really taking the murder seriously. It's a great case but the expectations are a little weird because I didn't expect the Kurain village part to be a fully-fledged part of the case. But it was interesting to not have that expectation going in, too.

...oh right, the Buff murder was ALSO in 6-5. Now that feels funny thinking back on it.

Armie is very adorbs.

I think we have had a Save My Ace Attorney character series here before?
I mean obviously the main characters would win, but having one with the supporting cast only might be great (but then there's the matter of deciding who should be in the roster). Maybe just one-off witnesses? Who would win then? Iris?

I still kinda wish the first trial in 6-5 had never become a murder. It felt compelling enough without needing one.

it's AA so i'm okay with its being murder, i think. using the damsel in distress card again was worse.

"It's AA" was the perfect reason to not make it murder. Apollo vs. Phoenix alone gave that case tons of gravitas. The murder doesn't add to the tension at all. The "damsel in distress" thing at least had a twist on it because, as it turned out, Maya was actually not in distress.

I still think it's weird that Kurain has a dude campaigning for an election. Doesn't really feel like it fits in here.

or at the very least it's weird that it's a man because Kurain is supposed to be a female-centric culture

Well, based on what they've said in AA2 and AA3, it's not like he has anything better to do. Atishon winning is kinda weird based on that, but it's not like he can't campaign.

It's neat getting to interact with Pearl as Apollo, especially considering they never really spoke to each other in DD.

it's also kind of ironic that Pearl is supposed to be one of the purest and most innocent characters in the series but she has a lie you have to break in almost every appearance she makes in the series

You know, I think it's interesting that Dhurke is much more like Phoenix than Apollo. It would explain why Apollo idolized Phoenix so much (at least on a subconscious level) since he reminded him of Dhurke.

I suppose there's even a Japanese language connection since Phoenix's Japanese name has the character for "Dragon" in it, and "A dragon never yields" and all that.

Man, they really sell the showdown between Apollo and Phoenix at the end here. What a great twist at the end. I think it's the only time an Announce the Truth theme plays outside of court in the main series.

part of me wishes Trucy was Phoenix's assistant during the trial just to make things "even" but oh well

Also, to be honest, I thought this guy was super annoying during the investigation day, but man, his gimmick is perfect for the courtroom. I totally lost it the first time he walked away from the stand after delivering a statement.

there's this weird hiccup where Apollo is interrupting Atishon as he's about to go into a rant but he's already got his fists slammed on the desk so you just hear the last split second of the sound and miss the entire animation itself

Man, I thought for sure that when the Founder's Orb revealed the Holy Mother's face, she was going to get channeled by someone before the game was over. Oh well, I guess there's always AA7...!

Also, it was kind of fun to see a trademark Phoenix bluff from an outside perspective without seeing any of the inner monologue that goes into it!

Well, day 2 is nearly twice as long as day 1 (9 hours vs. 5 hours), so he could get close. He'll definitely break the record for most lines in a case though because he's already halfway there.

There's a great carryover joke between Apollo's and Phoenix's segments here. If you examine the spilled water in front of Inga's house, Athena will quickly deny she had anything to do with it. Apollo says that she's the type of person who gets blamed for a lot of things, rightly or wrongly. When you switch over to Phoenix and examine the water, he offhandedly comments that it was probably Athena who did it, for which Edgeworth promptly chastises him for accusing his own subordinate like that.

I love that Apollo and Athena have a discussion about whether the grape juice we see Phoenix drink (and Inga drank here) is regular juice or if it's fermented wine. It's a nice meta moment.
