For anyone confused about why people saving the woman because the pedophile "is no big deal", heres the explanation.

Its a simple explotation of the meaning behind the words used.

A rapist means someone who has sexually assaulted some before, so they have a history of sexual assault.

A Pedophile is someone who is attracted to pubescent humans and typically just faps in private.

So had TC simply used the term "child molester instead then pretty much everyone would have chose to save the child.

Depending on the gender of the Pedophile and the child, I could lure the rapist into raping the pedo instead of the woman. And, since we're exploiting loopholes, the title says "save" but it never mentioned what the rapist and the pedo are doing. It could be a kidnap, robbery or attempt to murder. In the later case I would get the hell away from there and maybe call the police.

To be fair, most of those things that were said years ago that are now accepted would also have been described by people years ago as something that would never be accepted.

And you can't even say that pedophilia is somehow inherently anathema to well-adjusted or normal humans, and thus no culture would ever approve of it, because there have been any number of cultures throughout human history that have found pedophilia (for certain definitions of the term) perfectly acceptable, if not outright positive (like the ancient Athenians - aka the people we always credit for giving us the concept of democracy).

Basically, all sorts of fucked up things have been accepted at various points in human history, and all sorts of fucked up things will almost certainly be accepted in the future. We really lack the perspective to judge what future standards are going to be based on our own assumptions, because a lot of this stuff is culturally subjective.

But you'll rarely go wrong assuming that future humans will come up with something terrible that we'd be horrified by. As much as American schools love to teach the idea that "PROGRESS!" is always an upward curve of things constantly getting better and more perfect as time goes on, the future will probably be just as fucked up as the past, just in different ways.
