Hot water, because I had always been told that it was better at cleaning your hands than cold water. However, since The Popo stated otherwise, I just looked it up and it seems I was sold nothing but lies as a child.

I live in America. Used sinks in houses and publically in many different places. Unless the sink has been used recently and the water has been heated prior, sinks dont just immediately shoot out hot water. That's not how water heaters work

As far as I know America has access to the same super secret water heating tech as England. Do you guys have a water heater hooked directly up to every sink and shower because plumbing just doesn't work that way. The hot water has to travel through the pipes to get to your sink and if it's not hooked directly up to it, its gonna take on average like 10 seconds if not longer

My sinks take forever to dispense hot water as well. The one in the downstairs bathroom is like 10-15 seconds, but the one in the upstairs bathroom is seriously like 50 seconds or so. You'd think we lived in a 100 year old house lol

I do think it's more common than not to have sinks dispense hot water nearly instantly though. As for the topic, I prefer hot water but I don't mind cold water.

I feel like warm/hot water still does a better job removing dirt/grime from the hands over cold water. Removing bacteria, sure it's the same.

I usually turn on both hot and cold taps. Water that is too hot will make you hurry so your hands won't get as clean, and water that's too cold won't dissolve oil or grease as well.

Forget about trying to kill bacteria with hot water, you'd end up with third-degree burns before any bacteria even broke a sweat.

It depends. Cold water and hand soap most of the time. Hot water and dish soap when I'm cooking and handling raw meat. GoJo with pumice followed by cold water and hand soap if I've been working on cars.

And, yes, it takes time for hot water to make it from the basement water heater to the bathroom or kitchen taps.

It's definitely longer than 5 seconds in most places here. The sinks in my relatively new apartment (2008) take about 15 seconds.

Warm water, it's better for your hands, cold water makes em chap a little easier, very hot obviously burns em, and with soap ofc

But if I'm using my dad's bathroom I'll use cold cuz I guess the pipes are laid out wonky and it takes FOREVER for the water to heat up in there, it takes like no time at all in my bathroom.
