I love Blackquill's nicknames and insults for people, such as calling L'Belle a deceptive dandy. I also enjoy the double Lord of the Rings reference in calling Filch both a "fool of a tanuki" and a "tricksy little tanuki."

one of my favorite aspects to the twist of Damian being the Amazing Nine-Tails is the fact that Jinxie was so dedicated to kayfabe that she wouldn't reveal that the person she saw was wearing his mask

Apollo: Objection! No, you twisted samurai! This time, you stop your jabbering and let me finish making my case!

+1000000 respect points for Apollo

it seriously feels so good to see him regain his confidence after Blackquill has slapped him around for most of the case

it's why Apollo/Blackquill is such a great rivalry

5-2 has one of my favourite takedowns, the white hair in the mask is just so perfect. The smarm/satisaction as Apollo delivers "A DNA test is all we need to prove it, and we both know we'll get a match!" is great.

Interesting to see that 5-2 doesn't rack up a high line count despite its great length time-wise; I imagine this will hold true for the rest of DD/SoJ (well 6-5 will still be huge) but we'll see.

I think this will be the case mostly for DD because the lack of free investigations takes away a lot of line opportunities. 6-3 might end up being the longest non-epic case in terms of line count.

speaking of which the fact that 4-3 currently holds that distinction says a lot

You know, it's kind of astounding comparing the two DLC cases with each other. 6-6 feels so barebones, but 5-6 really feels like they put a lot of extra work into it. It has a voiced intro and closing monologue from Phoenix. It has several FMVs. Plus, the backgrounds are gorgeous. The Aqua Tunnel might be my favorite background in the series just in terms of aesthetics.

Yeah, but the AAI games in general tend to have lower line counts because Edgeworth is a line hog and the format is different. Plus, 5-2 doesn't have free investigations, so that hurts its potential ceiling.

6-6 remains my biggest disappointment in the whole series probably, after how good 5-6 was, and then how good the entirety of AA6 is

If 6-6 were as good as 5-6 then AA6 would be my favorite AA game by a mile, but I can't quite put it there because of that.

definitely 1-3 and 1-4

the best run of cases is 2-4 through 4-2 (or within one game, 3-1 through 3-5)

then there's E2-1 through E2-5, though its lows are lower than AA3's lows

case-wise there's 5-5 and 5-6, if you choose that order

... and of course, 6-5 part 1 and 6-5 part 2!

I like how Athena just accepts Phoenix's and Apollo's powers without really questioning how or why they work. She just takes their word for it. Apollo even comments on how easily she believed him, and she tells him that everyone's got a talent or ability of their own. Since she has one, she isn't surprised that someone else does, too.

Also 5-6 takes place almost exactly ten years after 2-2 so I guess that's how long the Magatama's power can last before it needs to be recharged.

Perfectly fair answer! I honestly considered that one too, along with 1-3/1-4. Speaking chronologically of course, I thought that was clear by the fact that 5-2/5-DLC is what brought this up.

I'm trying to think of how many cases have the true culprit take the stand as a witness on day 1.

Gant does in 1-5, Atmey does in 3-2 (which structurally is very similar to 5-6), Daryan shows up on the stand in 4-3 but doesn't give a testimony, and Marlon does here in 5-6. I think that's it.

Well, I guess technically it happens in 6-5, too, but they're two separate single-day trials in two different countries, so it's a unique circumstance, even compared to 3-2 or 5-6.
