Yeah getting a car to launch is pretty awesome. It proofs that the rocket can carry weight

Watching those rocket stages reenter and land synchronized was possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen.

This is what I was talking about, IDFK what you all are on about with cars and shit. Don't elaborate though because I really do and just don't care.

The payload was a Tesla car with a dummy in it. It doesn't really demonstrate all that much as far as payload size goes, given that the rocket's maximum capacity could probably have handled a couple dozen such cars without breaking a sweat, but it was pretty amusing.

Not to mention that the main payload was at max g force something like 4 minutes after launch and doing like 1400km/h which quite figuratively blows the Saturn V and every other NASA delivery system out of the water by an order of magnitude.

I love what Musk is trying to do overall, but it truly bothers me that his Space X and Redbull both have a more robust space program than NASA does at this point. Take the ISS out of the equation and Elon Musk has NASA beat right now, and if we dared him to make a better space station than the ISS he'd have the fucking thing in a higher orbit than NASA in less than a year because "reasons".

Also, it's not the individual payload that truly matters with his design. It's the fact that his delivery system is reusable and can pretty much send out an endless stream of payloads as fast as he can refuel those boosters since they aren't disposable, and in fact return home ready to go as soon as they can be reloaded which is a far cry from NASA's glorified disposable bottle rocket models.

If he built 2 or 3 more pairs of those rockets and the pads to receive them he could pretty much slingshot payloads around the sun at will for delivery to Mars. The implications of this launch are far greater in scope as a proof of concept than many realize.

You're not wrong in the slightest, but the fact that Musk has all of Asia and Russia beat as a private citizen should give the entire world pause for refection. We should all be thanking whatever Gods we pray to that this man hasn't resorted to actual cartoonish supervilliany or we'd all be truly fucked on a comic book level.

If Elon Musk woke up tomorrow morning and decided that he wanted to detonate a 60 megaton neutron bomb over the Earth's north magnetic pole if we didn't get Kat Dennings to straddle a cactus nude on primetime television while yodeling Folsom Prison Blues in Swahili by next week, I have a feeling the networks would make it happen by Friday.

maybe Musk is our world's Lex Luthor, and since we didn't get Superman, he is free from obsession to do stuff for the world instead of fighting Superman

Not sure if I'd go the DC route to describe Musk though. He's more of a real life Tony Stark/Reed Richards/Hank McCoy...though to be fair, super scientists are a dime a dozen on the Marvel side of things.
