Disney have a bad habit of shutting down their online/mobile Marvel games. This one lasted longer than most though, but it seriously puts me off putting any money into this kind of game again.

RIP to the only game I bought a stupidly expensive founders pack for and got my name in the credits.

Stopped playing when they did the Really Big Update or whatever they called it. But I more than got my money's worth, had a lot of fun bouncing around the Marvel Universe. I liked the diablo-style gameplay far more than traditional MMORPGs, maybe I'll try PoE if I ever get the itch again. This game deal was made back before Disney owned Marvel, I think it's one of the few licenses from that time that made it this far. Have to assume someone will try again someday.

I wasted 10 or 20 bucks on this game in the end.

Did I gain enough from what little I played out of using Deadpool instead of The Thing to justify it? Probably not. But it wasn't so much wasted that I totally regret it either I guess.

Nobody will get a refund likely because in MMOs and games likes this, they usually give you a few months' grace period before they shut down servers, and they justify your purchase as telling you that you have time to get your money's worth.

Super sad though. Disney is extremely flippant with these sort of games. I'd be shocked that my Marvel Puzzle Quest is still going on, but I think it just survives because it's so cheap and easy to add content to it and they get a really good return on it. They usually advertise the hell out of it too.

On the plus side at least the PS4 version (maybe the others too) is being decent enough to make all characters and costumes and loot boxes essentially free (1 eternity splinter each), so if you want to mess around til the end you've got options.

On the minus side there's still the options to buy character packs in the PS Store, and no warning that the game's on its way out that I saw.

Yeah and I've heard reports that Microsoft will offer refunds for stuff you've bought in the last 30 days but Sony says you're out of luck unless the currency is "defective".

I'm pretty sad to see this game ending and I probably spent close to around 200 dollars total over the 2-3 years that I played it. I put more than enough time to justify 3 video games worth of money so it doesn't feel like a total loss but this game just had so much potential and they couldn't figure out how to utilize it.
