Not at all. Racists are hated in the US to the point where most people are offended and defensive if accused of racism. Anyone publicly outed as a racist person or caught engaging in racists behavior or speech faces the real possibility of losing their job.

There are some parts of the world where bigotry is acceptable or even encouraged.

No, unless you're defining it as people who talk and obsess about racial matters.

It's doubtful it would be in the Western world either considering that it includes Eastern-Europe, Africa, Central America, and South America. As for first-world nations, France and Japan are definitely more racist.

Honestly, it'd be ridiculous to claim that the US is more racist than South Africa whose apartheid -- which made Jim Crow look tame by comparison -- didn't even end until 1991.

Not even close. Not that it's indicative of anything (being a single story and thus mostly useless), but I'll share that the most I've ever heard the N word was when I met a Turkish guy. Holy shit, did that guy hate black people. I also learned in that conversation that turks consider themselves white and European. That's technically true on both accounts, but it's not generally how the rest of the world considers them.

It's hard to say definitively. As much as Europe likes to pretend that the US invented racism, and how they don't have racism over there, they also have Zwarte Piet.

Not more racists per capita, though. The overwhelming majority in South Africa were the victims of that racism, not the perpetrators.

what

The east-west divide has multiple connotations. One of the most commonly accepted ones starts the east at around Russia.

I hadn't ever given that a lot of thought but, in general, the racial division system is kinda wack.

That and racism predates the US by thousands of years.

And you don't think that victimization hasn't informed racial attitudes in the nation? Keep in mind that our country *still* talks about slavery like it happened yesterday. Meanwhile maybe half of South Africa is old enough to have lived through Apartheid.

Possibly the most racists that target that racism toward fellow citizens, since America is quite diverse while still having some very dedicated racists, but definitely not the most racists period. That title would go to a country where racism is the norm.

Its more visible in the US by a combination of a more diverse population and lower tolerance. There's a lot of crap that happens in Canada or in many european countries that the American left would go absolutely BONKER about, yet in those places no one even think about it twice. And let's not get into Asia (though people already did).

It's easy to not "be racist" (note the quotes) when you rarely have to deal with other cultures, or people from other cultures are much more assimilated.
