I at least have never force-nominated Isaaru, Maechen and Dona into the contest while Braska has STILL never debuted. *cough*

Literally a character dead 10 years prior to the game and only viewable through Jecht spheres... yeah, almost sure his screentime pales to Maechen's.

Also Quina is pretty good but that's because Blue Magic is one of the few interesting gameplay mechanics in IX

If you count the cast of V and VII then the list gets interesting

Technically haven't beat V yet, but I've played enough to have an opinion on the Blue Magic and Faris.

Only issue with Strago is he showed up to late into the game to be useful or interesting

Enemy Skills is the best Blue Magic thing in the series though.

Also I liked them, but I hate that to get certain skills you have to use control. Would much prefer 'playing Pokemon' in IX

Manipulate is a great Materia and makes it easy for you.

Everyone in your party should have Enemy Skills.

For all the talk of being able to break 8 with junctions, you rarely hear people talk about breaking 7 over your knee with enemy skills.

And Quina is fine, in battle. It's just such a bad character and really out of place; it takes away from the plot of FFIX with how ridiculous it is. FF6 had the good sense to make Umaro and Gogo optional things with little impact on the story, and not in your party in times of great importance. FFIX said fuck it.

Completely understand this, for me that's the reason I like him/her so much. Great break from the exposition heavy plot. Especially in Madain Sari, helped distract me from a character that I find much worse than Maechen or any FF character for that matter.

Yeah good point - charon is definitely an under the radar contender for this just because hes so over the radar in so many other categories.

Braska is frankly kind of a "why" nomination too unless you just really like him in Record Keeper.

Like he's definitely important to the overall narrative, but he's so hands off that I couldn't really see anyone liking him much. It'd be like nominating Ceodore from FFIV or something.

Isaaru gets plenty of time and still doesn't really succeed in wowing you whatsoever

Braska is more plot relevant. Isaaru is one of many minor characters that isn't all that relevant. It'd be like getting Biran and Yenke into the contest.

I actually think Issaru is ok, especially when you take into account the chucklefuck he becomes in X-2. It's kind of fun.


Braska is definitely cool and would almost assuredly be a upper-mid to near top-tier character if he was actually around. Only thing I could see ruining him is if he gets a Dissidia WoL complex and is actually super fuckin boring and one note.
