I mean, so what's the difference between Isaaru, Dad, Gabranth, Kimahri and Dr. Cid? I don't really get why a lot of people hate he's in. Would they rather other stuff they clearly don't care about?

I don't hate Isaaru, I just think he's boring.

Dr. Cid - great character
Gabranth - good character, but he'll probably never get enough support to be worth nominating back in
Dad - boring character, but whatever, it's not like War would save anyone good in his absence
Isaaru/Kimahri - boring characters that potentially take votes from FFX characters I actually like

but yeah I don't particularly care between Isaaru/Kimahri; sure Kimahri gets more screentime, but he's equally dull

Banon is the only one I remember. I say next year we should obviously get Cindy, Iris and Xu in.

I feel like Cinna could actually still draw in votes towards the end. He's goofy likable enough in that way. For a truly boring nobody from that game you'd need the likes of Queen Hilda or Mikoto or Doctor Tot or something.

I'm actually playing through the game for the first time in half a decade so until I beat it I can only give the nutshell version:

I appreciate the idea of Isaaru as the rival summoner who isn't determined to get in Yuna's way (until Yevon is involved). He's the antithesis to Dona, who I also appreciate to a lesser extent. Isaaru instead pushes Yuna to go about her pilgrimage with respect and encouragement, but he isn't willing to simply stand aside and let her have the honor of bringing the Calm either.

Since childhood he knew what it meant to be a High Summoner and he goes through with it anyway. I admire his determination and I felt for him when his ideals were shattered in the Via Purifico. Further, while this does cheapen his representation in the first game, I like his brief appearance in X-2 (let's face it, that game degrades many of X's characters). It's rather funny and sad when you think about it.

When you live your entire life prepared to die for a great cause only to have that stripped from you, what do you make of yourself? Pacce becomes the leader of a treasure hunter team, Maroda becomes a key figure in a new wave group meant to overthrow a corrupt government, and Isaaru becomes... a tour guide. I like to speculate what Isaaru would've even done if he'd made it to Yunalesca. Sacrifice Pacce and, in addition to you being viewed as a monster, Maroda probably ends himself out of depression for losing his entire family. Sacrifice Maroda and there's no guarantee little Pacce can fight his way past Behemoths, Mega Flans, and whatever else back to safety. It's a lose-lose.

As a final note I like his design and his soothing, sonorous voice. He's a nice-looking dude and kind to boot! What's not to like?

But for those of you that don't, I have a preposition for you. Isaaru needs 4 contests for STATS and is currently at 2. So here's the preposition, and this may sound familiar as I did something similar with Tidus: help me get him a top 30 finish next contest, and the following contest I will not save him. Ever. At all.

I just want one good run out of him- good, not decent- and once I get it I won't push him again. Without me saving him he'll surely get booted as soon as guffguy or tennis inevitably miss a boot round. If it's a hard boot, that's the end of it. If it's soft, I will not renominate him. Blitzball's in your court Isaaru haters. One good run for him to begone forever, or ten more contests of him sucking votes from better X characters.

Isaaru's role in FFX-2 is one of the shining examples of the game taking a gigantic dump on the original, so depending on what you want out of the game, you may appreciate him or not!

Why in the world would I want this? Tidus couldn't even beat MissingNo. (well he COULD but it was leaving a bitter taste in Allen's mouth) so Isaaru wouldn't even be able to get his foot in the door.
