I liked the the character development and the end of the movie picked up well. I just felt the early part of the movie and gamora in particular all felt forced. And too self narrated

I really enjoyed it, it was just very sequelly - everything felt slightly less good and slightly less fresh than before. Also cheesier, a bit like the first one could be at times but worse here. Some of the jokes fell pretty flat.

Also I think I'm starting to really turn on these big, CGI finales. Everything in the final battle just didn't feel "real" like it should, same with the very end of Doctor Strange.

Also Chris Pratt is a great comedy actor but did not have real gravitas at the heavier parts, I thought.

Also, probably too long.

the first half was a trainwreck. they were trying waaay too hard (it was literally joke-joke-joke-joke-joke) and the jokes weren't nearly as good as in the first one (for the most part).

but the second half was good and kinda made me forgive the first half.

so overall it was... ok i guess?

also, the soundtrack of 1 was way better.

Best Stan Lee cameo yet too IMO. If only because it pretty much confirms he's a Watcher, or at least working for them, in the MCU, which has long been a fan theory.

good, not great like the first one. I agree that they were trying way too hard to be funny, to the point that groot and drax were essentially one-note comic relief characters. drax in particular was wasted.

still better than most marvel movies though. I'd say only gotg 1 and cap 2 are better.

I thought it was good but not as good as I hoped. The early part of the movie was way too slow and didn't seem to be really going anywhere. Second half was great but I can't overlook the first half of the movie so that drags the score down a little for me.

I thought it was really funny but not as good overall as the first. I'd give the first one an A and the second one a B. I wasn't disappointed though

First half was way too many jokes and not enough narrative lift. The editing was very lacking and it was like a lot of things, that admittedly were funny, were just assembled together crudely.

Second half was what the movie should have been the entire time.

I liked it well enough but it was nowhere near as good as the first. It takes forever to get going, and while I'm glad that they did some awesome character work with Yondu and Nebula, it comes at the expense of the actual Guardians which really sucks. The first movie is incredibly tight, but this one felt like it was lacking a lot.

I think I would have liked the villain way more if they didn't try the whole family reunion routine. It's hard to care about what's going on when he's so obviously going to turn evil.

But Yondu made things worth it.

Very different movie from the first one. First felt way tighter and "perfect" while this one had some not-great and even cringey moments. That said, I feel like the character development here was way stronger (except for Star Lord, oddly enough, and Groot since he's basically just a comic-relief baby here) Some of the sequences (Yondu's big scene, Rocket in the woods) feel head-and-shoulders above the first movie, too. Villain was one of Marvel's better offerings, too. That says basically nothing, but I actually thought he was pretty well done.

To sum it up, I'd say the first movie is darn close to flawless while this one has lower lows and higher highs. I'm not even sure which I prefer at this point.

Just got back from it, I really really enjoyed it. I think I agree I like the second half more, but I still enjoyed the first half. Rocket's Tazerface impression and Yondu being Mary Poppins got me pretty good. Also I'm surprised how useless Drax was in actuality but really just enjoyed him being there.

I think I'll also agree that the first one is the tighter, more cohesive film while this one has some higher highs but some lower lows. So they're pretty on par, maybe SLIGHTLY prefer the first one but when I love the first one as much as I do having this one even close makes it pretty great.

My favorite joke was after the Mantis bit from the trailer when her empathic abilities caused her to join in on Drax laughing at Star-Lord.

Rocket I thought didn't look as good as in the first. He looked more cartoony, less like a real raccoon. I assume they did it because it made him more emotive or something, but it kinda looked silly?

OG Guardians showing up was pretty awesome. Disappointed in how the handled Nebula. The villain's master plan was pretty uninteresting. The stakes didn't feel real at all. Mantis was awesome. Drax was even better than the first. Yondu was fantastic. Everyone else felt a little less interesting than in the first film.

I'm on team "Better than the first!" and there's only a handful of sequels that get that endorsement from me.

It's killing it on a Global scale as it enters its third weekend here.

I enjoyed it more than the first

While I thought the first was very impressive in how they made an unknown comic team a household name (I only knew Rocket from Ultimate Marvel vs capcom 3...that was it. Not everyone had that convenience either)

I thought it was okay. I might even say it was overrated.


this one was much better in the sense that it was more of a comedy and they did a good job at that IMO. I feel like it fits the characters more to be in a setting like that

The action was cool but yea, not mind blowing

he was right fucking there at the strip club. AND his face appeared in the credits! I guess they didn't know who that was, but it was a pleasant surprise


The only real issue I had with it was that the music felt really forced at times

that is, the random oldies they would play. I know everybody liked that about the first one but come on

it was TOO blatant

I didn't expect Kraglin to have as big a role as he did but I thought he was pretty great too. Hope he sticks around.

I think my favorite scene in the movie is where Drax is thinking of his family and Mantis touches his shoulder and starts sobbing.
