I played the Nier Automata demo because of this topic and it being the first game listed in the sale

seems pretty solid but not sure if it's 45 bucks solid or I just sucked at handling the controls

I enjoyed Lost Dimension for what it was, what I didn't enjoy was the same character betraying me before the 4th floor in three straight play throughs.

it's pretty average, it doesn't do anything really good or bad

gets boring after a while since it's somewhat linear until about 30 hours in when you get a boat

I mean I moreso care about whether it had an interesting story and isn't just fun time digimon adventures.

Cyber Sleuth felt like a game that actually mattered and not just another entry in the property to check off a list somewhere.

Either way were getting Cyber Sleuth 2, so...

The game only gets better as it goes from what I understand. I've only seen the show, but I'd be grabbing the game....if it was on PS4.

Steins;Gate 0 is in there as well, hopefully any S;G fan who hasn't played it yet is grabbing it.

Does the full game actually explain anything about them past Square = Light, Triangle = Heavy etc?

The full game has 4 weapon classes and each one has a different moveset when equipped into either light or heavy, plus different combos depending on what it's paired with.

Nope. Gotta experiment with the weapon set to see what its combos are.

We basically said the same thing. It requires experimentation for you to see the different movesets. Most weapons within a class have very similar movesets but there are slight differences.

I'm very much not a fan of minimally-documented controls. I don't want to have to fight the system to figure out what the combos are on top of learning the best ways to use them and how to solve the situation the game throws at me.

I too am confused by Regaro's issue.

Have you never played a character action game before.

Very few, and none in a long time. Only tried this one because of the universal praise I hear for it.

Though to be clear, this was basically my only problem with the demo.

You will be battling a lot and unless you are playing on the most difficult difficulty, optimizing your combos is unnecessary. I went through a very large majority of the game just using my fists because what's a God to a non believer

Controls =/= combos

And the combat is not even remotely complicated enough for that to be a problem. You can figure combos out for a set in like 20 seconds. The part that gets more detailed is finding what weapon combinations you like, which can only be done by trying them out. A combo list wouldnt change that.
