A common flaw I see with spectator reviews is failure to acknowledge that if you'd been saying those thoughts in game in real-time instead of as a reflection from an outside perspective after end of day, then people get to react and counter and influence the town's perspective.

I'm often called obvious scum, but, for specific example in this case, if Lopen (or anyone) had begun D2 trying to hang me just for the unvote at end of D1 I would have laughed that off with ease. It's more than just you being sure, it's getting the majority to be sure along with you.

No sour grapes here. I just always like to get my thoughts out. Everyone on my team played their part very well and we were close to being overtaken despite getting the huge lead early.

But yeah I really think b8 towns don't use voting records nearly as much as they should.

Mapping voting records to what people say and determining if that vote makes sense is basically the best way to find scum. I think deadpool is literally the only one I saw call puns or dowolf (forget which) weird cause of how they voted day 1 which was very strange to me. Unfortunately deadpool didn't really try that hard to drive the town into that suspicion which sucked, but it was a good read!

Well if towns like this are the ones you're getting to feel alright about not lynching you I'm not impressed. You basically just had to not say stupid things for this town to not lynch you. I'm not sure anyone ever really tried to build a case on anyone in this game. Kinda annoying to watch after day 1.

Like I think you're good at putting off a non-threatening aura while not looking inactive, but I'm not convinced you'd react well to pressure since there was literally no pressure in this game (after day 1). There are probably good games to review to see how well you'd do if put to the test, but this wasn't it.

Honestly super disappointed in almost everybody except @profDEADPOOL. He gets a shoutout from me for that very detailed and logic'd out post he made at one point that I'm trying to find (you now the one, the long one). To address the first one, I wont play mafia off the board. Part of the draw of b8 mafia is that I am already F5'ing board 8 during the day, so I don't have to specifically refresh for mafia, I am going to see it anyway. Especially since I'm a night owl, mafia elsewhere leaves me refreshing purely for a topic that is going to be dead a lot of the time. With board 8 I am going to be here anyway.

I will maintain we are overdue for some form of Pokemon themed mafia.

I will say that this is a hard game to gauge for how good scum players are at avoiding suspicion because:

- 2nd day was a gimme lynch
- 3rd day Se7en made all the scum's job easy by basically clowning into a lynch
- 4th day red was hot shotting 'a play' so no one had to really commit to anything
- 5th day was basically scumbus + people not caring much since the game was basically over

But based on the "obv tells" pjbasis was the only one I think did particularly well as the only reason I had any suspicion of him at all was because of his weird ass claim. Now, maybe pressuring him because of said claim may have caused him to stumble a bit but yeah. (which no one did after magus flipped? I mean it's a joke sure but not even a little? Did I miss something?)

Granted I kinda started looking at you with a less harsh lens after day 1 because I knew puns was scum and he was pressuring you so that gave you a bit of slack from me, so I'm not sure-- they might've been there. My mid day 1 read was that you were the scum of the two until puns did that vote flopping thing. But that was more of a generic "this guy is making fluffy posts for the sake of it and not actually scumhunting" more than any specific thing you did.

So yeah power rankings you'd def be #2 but unsure how much the puns assist helped. I will say it was weak enough pressure that you hadn't completely fallen off the radar at any point, so it probably didn't help all that much.

@VeryInsane Much prefer board maf, for sure. It's just super comfortable and generally feels better than playing in another board. As Red said, accessibility is a huge deal.

I think the setup was fine, just turn assassin into nothing. Or probably a 1 use unblockable nonextra kill. Something like that. Setup was close enough to good that the slight imbalance didn't detract from the fun any.

Most of my thoughts I already documented as I claimed.

My read that scum scanned me was correct, but it was unfortunate you countered BP first. It's possible I should have considered that as you weren't around end of day. Still think I had to claim BP to not get shot though. Probably wouldn't have mattered.

Lynching Corrik is beyond stupid. Two lynches this game I called obv town but the players were acting weird so they were lynched anyways. I suck at finding scum but at least I can tell you when you are lynching someone for a dumb reason. Hell, even the Ulti lynch was because he was Ulti. It just so happened he was scum.

If IGCD hadn't jumped in last minute to save JC I might not have shot him. But then again I was deadset on shooting JC because of it.


I thought because I am excellent as scum, I would be excellent as SK but lol not true. While I made some tactically incredible decisions (killing Shad) I also was put in a position where I felt the need to claim BP simply because my lynches had been poor. As scum I know how to control people's opinions of me though lynch, a luxury I don't have as SK. It didn't help that I scanned guilty and could be shot.

Day 1/2 felt pretty hot and I was getting into mafia again, but my schedule exerted its influence once more and I never really felt like sitting down and reading the game and plotting plots. So I just basically coasted for a while and luckily it was enough!

Tying myself to Corrik really worked out in the end, for lots of reasons.

Can we talk about the theory of Scum MVP a bit? I've always been fascinated by how different people think of it and why.

My feelings about pj this game are exactly the same as my feelings about brohan after Majora's Mask mafia. Yeah, he didn't get lynched, which is obviously a plus. But what exactly makes him the most valuable player on the team?

Ulti was lynched, but he helped force of will town into lynching their blocker. While in the spotlight, his interaction with me helped to convince confirmed town BP red that I was town. He sucked the life out of day 2 by claiming scum outright.

dowolf wasn't super pro town looking, but he drove home the mislynch of se7en and helped swing focus onto JC as we were trying to force red's hand on the BP claim. He did a big ISO of Corrik which through reverse psychology reinforced the idea of Corrik being scum to some people.

pj did a good job of keeping his head down and following incorrect town, but that isn't something that an entire scum team can get away with all at once. It has to be a mix.

So again, my question is, what did pj do that made him the most valuable? Let me reiterate that he and everyone on the team played a fine game. I don't think I could choose an MVP honestly.

This is actually my thoughts exactly. Very well balanced (considering it was a sk game) and the only thing I would get rid of was the extra scum kill. That's a bit too much overall but I thought VI did a nice job with this one.
