There is not a Cena WrestleMania match that I could care less about than Cena/Nikki vs Miz/Maryse.

But somehow Roman vs Cena would find a way to be even less interesting.

I'd be interested in it pretty much entirely from a meta perspective. One of them would have to lose, right? And how would fans react?

They would cheer Cena because he'll be around even less than he is now. And because there is still no reason to get behind Roman Reigns. And everyone knows this is the last torch for Cena to pass, and it signifies that we'll need to get used to Roman being in that John Cena position we all hated him being in for so many years that helped make people leave wrestling in droves.

Unless Roman is heel, then maybe it's interesting?

This was a pretty rough Raw to be a face. You've got Enzo/Cass/Cesaro/Sheamus getting collectively owned by just two guys, Zayn and Jericho getting slaughtered, Bayley getting the s*** kicked out of her for no apparent reason, Reigns eating the most devastating awkward stomach clothesline thing of all time (dude went flying!) and Rollins getting beaten down in his own dramatic comeback. Score one for the bad guys.

It's crazy that he's actually saying the same thing that Jim Cornette would say, and both of their booking styles would be completely the opposite of one another.

Ambrose is literally the only face at Mania, of the full timers.

All the other faces either

1: are hated
2 have jobbed too much clean recently
3 are heels by their actions.


Even if the part timers, Taker is the only real face.

On the one hand, Damien Sandow absolutely killing every terrible gimmick he was given and being rewarded with a release is a good sign there's some truth to this and that the writers probably do exert more control than they used to.

On the other hand I really do feel like there are a lot more guys phoning it in now. There are a lot of things, subtle or not, that you can do to give yourself character. I mean Akira Tozawa is more over than most of the cruiserweight division largely because he yells like an insane person all the time in his matches. I doubt showing some personality during matches would be something that would actively be worked against, and this can bleed into interviews, whatever. Getting bad writing forced on you will always be bad but the right delivery can save a lot of bad dialogue.

Like how their response to Cesaro getting over with stuff he does in the ring has been to get him to stop doing it for random lengths of time?

The WWE is just really weird with when they actually let guys have personality and when they don't.
