Well, er... I just finished Nightmare myself. This probably sounds lame for Inferno people, but the Diablo fight was incredibly fun and suitably challenging! I think it was the most fun I've had since I've started playing!

Currently maining a WD - got about 2100 DPS just starting Hell (this is after a quick trip to the Auction House, where I exclusively bought gear selling for less than 5000G). Is that good or am I in trouble?

Elite packs are boring though. You can find those anywhere. The CHESTS are what make those things special, man.

Only now they're not going to be because they're just going to drop a bunch of ****** blues. Might as well just cut them out of the game-- 0 mf resplendent chests suck.

I also dislike their approach to difficulty.

Why should a boss get more difficult after 3 minutes exactly? It just seems to penalize players who have low damage output which I don't entirely understand the logic behind. It should be health based not time based.

I fully and proudly admit that.

I dislike that they're penalizing me more than I'm penalizing myself by having the fight take a year (and have to dodge for a lot longer as a result)

Just seems like a very artificial way to add difficulty. "Hey your items don't do quite enough damage so we're going to arbitrarily buff the boss now have fun"

I mean it's still better than the god awful stupid "Out of Time" buff that elite packs get, mind you.

Point is I'm still managing to progress fine

If you want my gear to be too crappy to play in a difficulty improve the AI so that they might actually be able to corner me in 5 minutes.

Or nerf force armor/venom hydra.

How does Force Armor work, exactly? Sometimes it doesn't really seem to have an effect. I heard someone say it only works if you have <33% HP; is that true?

What it does is it reduces damage to a cap of 33% life, but if the enemy is doing more than your max health in damage it simply reduces damage by 1/3. So a 300% of your life shot will always kill you.

If it's "not having an effect" that means the enemies are crushing you so damn hard it's overflowing the Force Armor. It could also mean that you're getting ticked with a bunch of "small damage" shots. Like if you're in a pool of fire it doesn't help at all because you're taking like 8% of your life 10 times in a second rather than taking one single 80% shot.

I have no idea why Blizzard is trying so hard to control what people farm. If some people wanna farm goblins, let them. If some people wanna farm bosses, let them. If some people have enough patience to farm gold from the same cellar, as boring as that is, let them.

Some affixed are so retarded---I was watching a stream where this guy ran into elite soul lashers with like 5 affixes and he had to re-roll his game like 4 times. Ive never played a game where there was monsters you had to run from at max level. The concept just doesn't make sense to me. Neither do enrage timers. If someone wants to explain this to me I'm all ears.

Enrage timers are so you can't cheese the boss or punish you for being bad/under geared for that point. At least that's how it was in wow, they were fine there and caused their own challenges (thinking brutalus from sunwell+ in bc)

The problem with enrage timers and cheesing the boss is that it... just doesn't exist in d3 in the sense that the enrage timer deals with it.

Like if you're actively dodging the crap out of a boss you're not "cheesing it" which is what you have to do unless you have a boss caught in the terrain or something.

If you have the boss caught in the terrain you can afford to stand far enough back that you'll be out of the enrage radius-- and you'll also likely have it dead before the enrage takes effect.

So yeah it's just a really stupid feature on all levels that just serves to punish people who are undergeared.

I'm really disappointed by the chest magic find nerf. Really disappointed. But I still liked quite a few of the changes.

Kind of annoying to see a ton of boss nerfs, but I suppose it is better for the game in general so I can live with those.

damnit just got a new mouse and 1.03 is live and all my attack speed items got nerfed to hell. might actually have to farm a little to kill diablo now. update: yeah, down to 15k dps lol.

also my manticore 1) does not seem to have an extra property 2) has like 70 lower dps now, presumably because of the attack speed thing.

woot, Storm sold for a clean 50 bucks on a 41 buck profit(well technically 36 for me)

Switching all of your gear to magic find right before opening a resplendent chest was pretty dumb. But the better solution would be: for the magic find to work on a resplendent chest, you have to wear it for the whole dungeon up to that chest. CLEARLY BETTER
