From: Vlado | #399 How can I get anything done with you when you're so prejudiced against me?
Well here's an ironic post.
Seriously though, I recognize arguing with you for what it is. Not much of what I say is actually going to get through and you're just going to stick to your guns.
Doesn't mean I don't enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing from time to time. I do.
But eventually, it's just time to move on.

"But you have been given freedom. Freedom to be...outside." "I am lightning...the rain transformed."
by the way vlado, I will take you seriously for five seconds
point 1: smurf didn't "flatten" anyone, he ducked out of a fight because ed bellis annihilated him in one post and there was no good response. he tried to save face and pretend he was above arguing, but considering that on page 2 he felt comfortable throwing a "dur hur" at Lopen, we can see through that.
From: LeonhartFour | Posted: 1/18/2012 2:32:20 PM | #387 People are free to say what they want regardless of whether Smurf agrees with it, you agree with it, or whoever.
Just because someone's free to do something doesn't mean they should. >_>
As Fett said - bad list or not, Smurf's lists are very fun to read and look back on the past. If this list seriously riles you up enough to bother arguing about it because OMG HM 30 SPOTS TOO LOW, you should get yourself checked out.
It's annoying to others who just want to reminisce about the past and instead get a topic of childish insult flinging.

That's cool. Just so you know, though, I've nothing against you, I'm just not one to hold grudges. Even if I've disliked someone for a long time, it'd just take a couple of civil conversations for me to change my view on that person, and you're certainly far above the level of the likes of Bellis and Icehawk in my eyes.

No. Absolutely not. He didn't "duck out" of a fight. He made the mature choice - to not waste time and effort arguing with someone who's obviously biased against him. A choice I don't always make, I guess. And his response contains it all, actually. The guy has a "real life" now - work, responsibilities, probably a girlfriend... He can't dedicate resources to useless causes like he used to. He could've thrown a "dur hur" at Bellis, as well, and achieved nothing, but he destroyed him with a single sentence instead.
I do not see how one could seriously think Bellis "annihilated" him, when Bellis' post is absolutely devoid of any actual substance, aside from "Grr, I dislike Smurf." Why would one argue when one's up against such hostility? Obviously, it would be a waste of time. So Smurf made the right choice.

Bed_Ellis you forgot to mention your condition often results in you mocking people and questioning them about their beliefs because they differ so much from your own that just the thought of a differing opinion seems errant.

I've just realized that Vlado is a perfect It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia character...
He is absolutely filled with and weighed down by an overwhelming and even unrealistic number of debilitating, crippling character flaws (including but not limited to narcissism and a compulsion to be judgmental), flaws which he is completely blind to/in denial of and that make him seem like possibly one of the worst human beings ever... but at the same time, he is dynamic and hilarious because of it, shananigans always follow in his wake, and since he is himself the premise of his own show, if people enjoy watching him (loving or hating him), through his audience he is a success, even though it's at the cost of being himself...

You call them "character flaws," life judges them as qualities that help me move forward... It all depends on perspective.

Even Vlado doesn't like Vlado. He does this super-contrarian bulls*** to mask his self-loathing. It's like he can never, ever agree with a popular decision because he can't stand ever being in the majority about any one opinion, or else he'll lose the one and only thing that makes him unique on this board.

I really don't like the community outside the stats topic. Sometimes I'll take a look at and post in other topics, but I do most of my posting in the stats topic for good reason.
That said, I'm here because I'm vain and want to see if I actually made the list, considering I had my moments back in 2003 before fading into irrelevancy.

xfd "that is what you actually believe" etc
there's a reason this graph exists:
as far as taking offense on differences of opinion, I believe Ed Bellis covered this "you ascribe your own negative personality traits to other users because you can't deal with them" thing
Any good journalist plays devil's advocate as much as they can.
And it'd compromise how society views them as a journalist for them to admit that they do it so often especially when they don't fully believe what they say.
But don't worry Vlado your secret is safe with me.

thengamer.com/guru thengamer.com/xstats board8.wikia.com Best Show ever? Our interview of Guru Champ SuperNiceDog!
Look I've known what Bellis was like for years, he'll never handle being confronted or any sort of insinuation on his intelligence. I asked him to stop repeating the same thing every page, he did and changed his line of posting which essentially carried the last 200 posts and meant I didn't need to log on at all to give it token bumps. It turns an unproductive dull user into a big interest generator, especially handy for keeping a topic relevant when I can't myself. (I graduated 2 days ago, p busy this week) It was the same reason why on top 500 lists I had long winded hate rankings of people carefully spaced out in the early stages, controversy carries interest through dull moments. People say they get what my lists are about and then continue to miss the most obvious tells that I've been using for the best part of a decade.
On Maria's (I forgot who you were again) mention of a failure to handle criticism in lists. There's not really anything to say about, inaccuracies will happen and as I said in the opening post in the previous thread you're welcome to point them out. There's nothing for me to comment on those. If you have a problem with the list structure or the way I do things, don't read it. If you continue to read my lists for 5 years with strong criticisms against them (as apparently you do) then I'll assume you're dicking around and treat you as such.
Anyway enough with the circus, I have time again so hope to get through more of the list.

Yeah, he gets really mad when I'm not around - pikaness on GMUN
pikaness was not an exceptional user and on any other internet community would have been the most forgettable unnoticeable presence imaginable. On board 8? This guy seemingly ticked all the right buttons playing the role of many peoples dream girl. Apparently being a dream girl on board 8 constitutes being mostly silent, optimistic, slightly nerdy, likes pokemon canadian. This evoked very strange reactions from GMUN and TUM in particular. Luster too but then that wasn't exactly unusual by his standards. They were captivated by him and fought aggressively for his affection, made even more bizarre because by as far as I could see pikaness never even invited their advances.
pikaness as a person always seemed very distant, reluctant to talk about themselves or have much personal interaction. He was much more willing and open about discussing non-personal interests which was his main board activity. A sure sign for a front and a person who isn't confident in the character they play. There were many slips for pikaness along the way which broke character, reports of hacking on deviantart, the Calum address business, being labelled as a boy on an AC message board, looking for "hot steamy lesbian sex" on a dating site and uh GMUN knocking on his door and seeing him to name just a few.
pikaness finally being unearthed as a male really raised the issue of perception of the board to females. The reality of pikaness was "she" was a strong presence in several user contests, a popular member of the board and clearly the object of affection for many. Swap the gender and she became so unpopular she had to leave the board and later only post on anonymous usernames. Pika was less about what he did and more about what an impact the role he played had on others on board 8,
Points of Impact
-> Has a penis -> Brought out teh creep in several others.
Notable Moment:
Having 3 separate board 8'ers infatuated with him.... at the same time . As a dramamonger pikaness was a gem to have around the board and brought the absolute worst out of several people. Most noticeably GMUN, TUM and Luster.
Legacy:
The prime example of a G.I.R.L. on board 8. We'd seen them before but never with such longevity or impact as pikaness. It's unlikely the board will ever fall for such an impacting act of deception again.
