it's different for every jungler. Much of it is up to personal preference.

The unpleasant answer is that you should have a full set of AD, Armor Pen. and Attack speed, and see what balance you like the most.

all the monsters have different armor. Ancient golem and lizard elder both have 20, and you won't get that much armor pen on runes.

Some junglers have on hit affects, so you may just want attack speed anyway.

So after going 7-0 earlier today, I've just been 0-3 and feeding after a few hours' break. What wonderful fun. Oh well, that's all different champions as well, and two of the games had insanely good single opponents. Hell, my Taric game ended in surrender after twenty minutes because one of their guys had 15 of their 20 kills.

I'm still terrible with items and last hits.

Just had a great hardfought game that ended with 4/5 champs on both sides at 18, only one turret outside home base alive between both teams, and a fight to the bitter end.

people who think riven is "op" fail to realize that she suffers from having very bad itemization and a horrid lategame unless she snowballs.

no **** riven is going to be good mid-game if you let her freefarm. that's what she does. it's like complaining that vayne kicked your face in at late-game or tryndamere is 1v5ing you after he has six items. you adapt your playstyle to the enemy team.

she just happens to be a melee who, you know, can actually compete with ranged dps. so obviously they've gotta nerf her. just like with pantheon.

Like uh, I have pretty good experience with the lower ELO brackets and the levels when they transition to better players and when it stops becoming so much the fault of the matchmaker and actually on you. I made a slow arduous climb last ladder season and tried to notice how people got better as I went... and in my experience last season (I did a lot of stupid stuff early to tank my ELO in the early high value games so I too started at like 900 ELO) it basically went...

950 ELO or less: Total coinflip. Pretty much every game has a leaver or a feeder on one or both teams. Pick a pubstomper and carry 4v5s or hope you get a good beat with the leave/feed situation.
950-1000: A lot of leaves/feeders. I'd say about half of your games at this level are determined by the champ select.
1000-1100: Leaves don't happen much. Feeders are still somewhat common. People start to have an idea of how to play the game, but they're still loud and obnoxious. Basically at this level it's usually like 5 individual players that know how to play their champs to some etent, but very little team coordination unless you force it or someone else does, so games can still be lost through little fault of your own just by the team not working as a team should. On the plus side screwing up is more a team effort.
1100-1200: Play gets better. Leaves are pretty rare. Feeders are kinda rare but absurd teamcomps still happen because of people not paying attention to the match-ups and just picking who they want to use. Post champ select coordination gets better around this point though.
1200-1300: People actually start to have a decent idea of how to play the game, Outright feeders are pretty rare, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a leaver at this level or higher though I'm sure they exist on rare occasion. This is where I'd say you can't really blame the matchmaker for how you do. Things like warding, dynamic item selection, map awareness, lane control, etc needs work, but yeah, the basics are all there and you can do a lot of these things for your team if you're good with map pings and such and say out loud some rec items if it's very obvious.

I think i peaked at just over 1300 so I can't say how it progresses beyond that, but yeah. This is what I observe.

I felt once I hit 1200 that matches were pretty much always in my hands to some extent, even if I wasn't the primary reason we won or lost, or that our team was just outplayed as a whole. Yeah, you're gonna get a bad beat sometimes but for you to blame the matchmaker pretty much all the time at 1400, to me screams 1000-1100 player to me. I give you the benefit of a doubt an put you in the next level up, but you still seem to me like you have some of the problems that plague 1000-1100 guys. It kinda matches your attitude, too-- since you're playing the game like it's 5 individual heroes vs 5 individual heroes, you'll never really see how you failed your team unless you outright fed, even if it's possible that you did. You'll always look at the guy with the lowest income/most deaths and blame that guy, even if say, some of his deaths were caused by your negligence.

This hasn't been true for a long, long time.

1200-1300 right now is still nightmarish, hell so is 1300-1400, though less so. There are a lot of outright feeders, duo queues, and bad players. They are on both sides, but as of today, I've been getting destroyed by matchmaking.

And you can call me a low Elo player all you want, but the fact that I play well and hold my own with 1400-1500 players anytime I'm with them speaks for itself.

Well ELO inflation is a possibility. If that's the case that just means you're a 1050-1150 player with a different number on him, though. Getting better is not in a number it's actually realizing how you can improve and then putting in the effort to do so. Even if you "get screwed by the match maker" you should be trying to figure out what's going wrong and how you can serve your team better-- carrying it outright if you have to.

Keep in mind that the ladder season is still young, though, so you do have a bigger influx of bads at higher ELO because less games total have been played and ELOs are more volatile. If it's still volatile, realize that and stay in pub-stomp mode until you're clear of the environment where feeders and leavers exist. I'm sure red and FD and etc will testify that they do stop at some ELO, even this season being as young as it is.

Bought Lux, test-drove her in a vs. Bots match and have no regrets. Thoughts:

- Amazing CC abiliites
- MASTER SPARK (does this have a max range?)
- Recommended items are too expensive. Also, why can't Doran's Ring build into anything?
- Screw HP, I need more mana! Also, cooldown so I can drop a MASTER SPARK every 28 seconds. AP too.

And she's so happy!

- Sure.
- Its range isn't readily apparent, but it does max out. It's still very long and has a reasonably low CD.
- You don't always have to build recommended items. Usually, the builds are less than optimal. Doran's don't build into anything because they're meant to be good boosts for early game.
- If you build glass cannon, you will be destroyed every single time. Underestimating defensive items, even on casters, is one of the best ways to lose games.

master spark has 3000 range. it's annoying because the range indicator cuts out in the middle and you can only see it at the start and end.

you basically just want to build tons of ap (into a void staff if the opponents have or are building any mr) and some cdr. a little defense if necessary, but you have great range and cc to keep people off you, so you can get by with less than most casters need. full glass cannon usually works.

her mana costs can be annoying - especially early - but learning to manage mana is generally a better solution than spending money on it, which will put you behind on damage. getting blue buff whenever you can helps too. (though if you're not level 30 i guess you don't have any mana regen runes, so it might be a good idea to get something. i wouldn't know.)

I figure that if I can get Tear of the Goddess and Shurelia's Reverie, I should be set for survival and mana. Combine that with boots and a fiendish codex and I hit the cooldown cap, so I'll just pick whatever suits the particular match and my budget of the AP-boosting items.

And I guess I can endure a D-Ring for the start of a match...

Trust HGR more than bio there, seeing as he mained Lux for literally months. Lux can skimp on defense with her large range and she needs every bit of damage she can get to be relevant.

I don't think Shurelia's is a particularly good item for her, either.
