Also ff 8 and all garbage level scaling games are problematic because they actively make you not want to play the damn game. Punishing the player for playing the fucking game is absurd and I never understood the appeal of wrpgs that do this. For some of us, progression in terms of skills/talents/etc are more interesting and are generally more meaningful than suddenly being able to one shot an enemy because you picked up a new sword. It never made sense for the world to get less dangerous because of a new sword. It should get less dangerous based on your skill and abilities. In saying that though, it should always be a toggle.
