Yeah, Lopen's got a point. He's probably one of the top Hojo experts on the board.

It's like Okada's Rainmaker, it's a short clothesline, but they don't sell it on how amazing it is, they sell on how it can end any opponent because it's an effective finisher. Okada's got much flashier moves in his arsenal, but the clothesline itself is booked most strongly.

With Hojo, the gimmick in Japan, was always she's a hard hitting athletic idol style joshi. She can tank punishment and then hits back with a spear and some hard chops. The elbow itself is great, but what made the move stand out in Japan was how it finished opponents consistently.

It was before Ronda was billed as a bad loser who feuds with ring girls and gets special treatment to not promote the Nunes fight.

Relationship with Travis Browne has also not gone down well. Usually it's because thirsty fans get mad, this time it's because Browne is someone of questionable character. (Alledged domestic violence)

Ronda at that mania, won in MMA as fast as you can and was billed by their hype team as a once in ever human.

Ronda drew more than Mania's best PPV number and was the most famous female athlete in America. At her peak she was one of the most googled sports star in the world.

I love Nakamura since before most of you knew of his existence, but that's the point. Not many heard of him when he was doing the stuff that made him known to western fans of NJPW.

2011 Novak for example is bettrr than 2011 Federer.

Disney has been pushing the Brady vs Jordan debate lately.

But Federer is 100% the greatest white athlete I have seen in my lifetime.

In fact, his actual athletic ability gets underrated, since his skill level is so high. Some players have had better individual years during his run, but that happens to just about every top athlete with such a long career.

If Federer was american, I think he would be a billion dollar athlete by now.

Suzuki vs Tanahashi was something else.

I liked it a lot more than last year's Okada/Suzuki, maybe because those two have a much stronger chemistry together.

The storytelling was better here and the match wasn't a fast paced athletic fest, but a slow intense grind.

Yeah, the Chuunin exam arcs were terrific and it's easy to see why Gaara got over so huge.

Akatsuki's initial introduction was also good, because it showed a darker side of the Ninja world that wasn't over the top the way Zabusa/Orochimaru were. They felt a lot more cold blooded and calculating, while Orochimaru was more or less an agent of chaos trying to build his own empire.

Post-Timeskip, I think Naruto had good world building, but too many characters and in the end, it got hard to identify with them since not many got much screentime.

Saiki K being the gag series that keeps doing well warms my heart.

After losing AssClass/Naruto/KnK and even declined Bleach/Toriko, I still didn't expect WSJ to bounce back with such strong series so quickly. It felt like they had a few successors in mind that didn't work out as those series were ongoing, but once they ended other stuff actually did step up.

Also I officially give We Never Learn my WSJ seal of approval. Can't wait for Shaft to be like, yeah sure let's give this the Nisekoi anime treatment.
