Amazon and a few others are trying to get into the soccer game. Dave's argument is that if UFC jumps ship from Fox to a competitor, it creates a huge content gap that needs to be filled. For Japan, I remember Toriko getting a big push. Though the real WSJ we gotta hype up on Board 8 is Saiki Kusuo, great manga and the adaptation provided some good laughs. Watched Violet Evergarden, it was ok, but you gotta let these kinds of things play out a bit more. Might actually be better as a binge type show since the first ep seemed to be a slow build type of story. For first impressions, there's been a few KyoAni shows that did better but let's see. The Melancholy of Harumi Suzumiya (broadcast order first ep) Hyouka Sound Eupho Clannad Chuu2 Amaburi Maid Dragon Kanon Free! Though this new deal means Omega is unavailable for the 2019 Rumble even if he did get poached. 2nd big takeaway from this week's WON. Meltzer is just putting the speculation out there, but the conditions seem very favourable for WWE getting a new TV deal worth $400m a year. He's not reporting it happening, just giving a lay of the land and the current climate makes this look more than possible. $400m a year being double what they currently receive, means they could crush every single other federation in America, Mexico and Japan in less than two years via talent raids. | voltch 01/06/18 2:18:57 PM #9 | Went through what Anime stuff the Amazon Prime now has to offer. It really jumps at you, how Crunchyroll isn't capable of entering the anime movie sweepstakes. Sure AS was a failed experiment, but I gotta wonder if the anime crowd is similar to the wrestling demographic in the west. As in, it's one of the fanbases that isn't high income and kinda just relies on a smaller hardcore fanbase that spends big on the product. When I go to Japan and watch say Doraemon or Shin-chan, the commercials can include insurance, cars, banking basically stuff targeted towards people with $$, I don't think in the west they'd attract those companies. Though Doraemon/Shin-chan/Sazae-san are outliers, the other anime stuff doesn't seem to be drawing that key demo, but there's still good money to be made. --- Congrats to Eli Ayase's #1 fan BK_Sheikah00 on winning the BYIG Guru Contest. |
