Beating its best placement ever, probably the world's most famous shounen series ever.
The show is filled with memorable battles, iconic villains and probably influenced many a playground fight.
It's easy enough to follow and be engaged in the increasingly high stakes showdowns, but you also get to have a ton of laughs and the original DBZ run had one of the funnier filler eps.
As far as action series go though, this still holds up!

A devastating debut for the reboot series.
There's always been some rather complex stuff going on behind the scenes with this former WSJ cult? series.
I was never sure how popular Shaman King ever was, the manga seemed to do well in Europe, but didn't appear to be a bigger hit than say Reborn or Hikaru no Go.
Same with the original anime, people seemed to know of it, but it wasn't exactly YYH, but 2021 it shows up on netflix and...it's a hit?
Enough of one for a sequel series to be greenlit! Time will tell how that will do, we've seen already how some follows up don't enthuse the original fans.

As far as one cour shows go, Baccano had a hell of an impact and weirdly enough we still have two more shows of that ilk topping it this year.
Most people who watch Baccano end up enjoying it, but it's still niche and it'll likely never have another season.
It's not because the studio went bankrupt or anything like that really, seems like other shows took priority and at this point it just might no longer be worth revisiting.

It's no secret that I've been backing Monogatari for a number of years.
Will it ever win? Probably not, best shot was a a few years back.
But this is a series unlike many others, a fairly generic premise to begin with. A heroic protagonist saves various girls from the mystery oddity of the week.
Monogatari's always gone beyond that with its storytelling and despite the small scale it does end up becoming its own grand tale of sorts.
I believe it's the franchise I've spent the 2nd most on trailing only...Final Fantasy and it has been worth it.

Cute romcom, where the lead girl is a confident yet quirky magazine model with stunning looks, laddish tendencies and hardcore otaku tastes.
Even with all those traits, I feel that she's the self insert and the protagonist Gojo is the real catch, she's trying to get him to come out of his shell.
This series also does attempt to give some insight on the behind the scenes of the cosplay scene in JP and while not easy, it's a mature industry where they go out of their way to show that even a newbie will have tools available to constantly improve.
