I know amazon is often brought up as a potential suitor for those deals.

Though if I'm them, 300m for The Grand Tour makes more sense than a bunch of anime shows.

I think Palmer Luckey might be the most famous really rich anime fan. I think he's interested in putting some money in that game.

I'm glad Netflix got involved in anime, it means we get stuff that can't exist because Japanese audiences don't go for that sort of stuff. We know there are talent in the anime industry that are itching to do stuff other than the industry's current moe/waifu boner.

Netflix is good for content they fund, but bad for content they license. Hopefully companies that let them license their work don't give them absolute authority like holding broadcasts hostage.

Yeah I'd mostly agree with that. Though at times I feel like it's less Japanese audiences won't go for it and more, Japanese studios don't have the funds to do this.It just makes more sense to spend your money on something like say My Hero Academia than try to remake ANOTHER re-imagining of Devilman. That story has received takes from so many hands in both manga and anime form.

So when are we getting Netflix budget levels adaptations of Pluto and Billy Bat?

(I also think if Netflix shows that you CAN make money from anime, Amazon will get back in the game)

I should look up what won best Seiyu when I still ran it.

Probably Risa Taneda/Saori Hayami grabbed the wins. Though when I used to run it, it was very heavily skewed towards female performers.

Not a bad thing, since as Mac pointed out, we've had a number of recent years with stronger depth for women characters.

About to wrap up Devilman Crybaby.

There's a lot of good, interesting project and I liked a lot of the changes made on the whole.

There are some changes I don't agree with, but at the same time, I wouldn't want a carbon copy of previous adaptations. Everyone has to do their own thing for it to be a proper adaptation.

I would like to see netflix go on to fund Devilman Lady and Violence Jack after this to push the story further.

Always thought Netflix trying to create their own anime content could lead to something like this. The security that funding provided gave us a good experimental project.

I'm sure they won't all be hits, but I'm interested to see how many other good shows can be produced under this current approach to anime content.

NJPW is already less popular than Rizin in Japan.

They are unable to get any kind of Prime Time TV deal with the major television networks.

As far as the entertainment industry goes, they are close to bottom of the barrel. The Tekken deal might legit be one of their best ways to gain exposure, simply because that game sold a few million.

The ratings RAW brings in are higher, but at the same time, wrestling is notorious for having lower tier adrates compared to other sports organisations like the UFC.

I believe studies have shown that WWE's audience come from a lower education and income background than the major sports. Though yes wrestling is not a sport, but even compared to entertainment WWE's adrate isn't that high. The audience it brings in is simply not the one advertisers want.

To their credit, WWE's done a good job in recent years on that front. Roman Reigns may be a disaster for fans, but seems like with him on top, the bottom line is gonna get better if they do end up being more appealing to advertisers.
