So yeah, I didn't want to eulogize yesterday because I figured the chances of doing it today were pretty likely. I achieved the goal I set out for, so I can't be too disappointed and I fully expected the result so it wasn't very impactful or dramatic in any sense.

I'd like to thank my fellow long-time Seymour main guffguy for always coming back around during the SMFFFC season and giving our guy his best. It was weird to see for the first time years ago that there was someone else out there who actually had Seymour as his main. I hope this placement pleased you (seemingly so!).

Thanks to Chris for offering to take Seymour up as his main this year, unsolicited. I was surprised to see the offer and I appreciate it. I'd like to thank long-time Seymour late-game supporters like Genny, Denzo, JonPen, KBM, Lopen and others for their votes. Another thank you to all the new people who came in to help Seymour out like bubu, Hbthebattle, Nick and Suprak. Special thank you to Lea for taking time out of your life to make the comics. I've always taken SMFFFC literally; as in the "save my favorite" part. Even though I think he's done the best he can do, I'd always love to be incorrect. There was a time a few years ago where I made a similar goal of top 20 for myself. As you can see by his stats it took 9 tries before he could break that ceiling and now another 6 before the top 5. So maybe with that logic, he wins the contest in 3 years? Yeah, let's go with that. I'm just here to save my favorite character, and that's who I always support each year. I can only see that changing by him winning, then perhaps I'd look to the next lowest favorite who hasn't won yet (an ironic character!).

@TheArkOfTurus this dissolves our trade alliance. I am not committing to anything else left at this time.

I don't really want to write a eulogy here or go on for too long since that seems a little crass towards Barret fans, but I would like to thank everyone for helping Seymour make it into a top 5. I really doubted the chances even after Sir Chris himself pledged to main him last year, but with the support offered from him to all the long-time Seymour fans and new ones that I haven't seen vote for him much before, it actually happened. If it's to end soon, well, I got to see the goal achieved. Obviously I would like to think he can still compete despite being a vote in the hole next round, but I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone that's been supporting him this far.

I have an oddball favorite character in Final Fantasy I know, and I've never given up on supporting him year after year despite the fact many times I had believed him to reached his obtainable zenith in this contest. Logic would have dictated I'd have pushed a more popular favorite of mine at some point, but this never really happened unless the character was still able to be alive after I was done pressing on with Seymour. This contest was refreshing because I got to see beyond what I believed to be his peak performance. The top 5. The final X character standing after all these years. The last villain (I'm not sure he's ever done this either, Kefka has always bested him even during his best runs). It's very cool to have seen, like I said, even if this is another zenith for him. Just going to keep doing my best and hoping!

I don't really think it's fair to consider Seymour some sort of "goat" here. I mean I can almost guarantee he doesn't have the worst stats of the characters which remain and has been in the top 15 the last three contests. I dunno, do I think he can win a finals? Maybe, who knows really. There are champions that have won that you'd certainly say wouldn't have before they did and they also have poorer stats than Seymour does. Now many of those characters wouldn't win again perhaps, but what caused them to win the first time? There are a lot of circumstances involved in winning this sometimes. This "goat" term was born when XIII destroyed two historically weak characters in the finals; Seymour is not a historically weak character, nor is this a one off run. I dunno, as someone that legit has this character as his #1 it's a little annoying to see him compared to those characters. No offense to their runs or anything as yeah, people liked them enough for it to happen, but they aren't anyone's #1 character. They haven't had someone pushing them as their priority for over a decade in this contest either.

I really only desire the top 5 because I set a realistic goal for myself. That doesn't mean I'd not love to see Seymour in the finals or even win, obviously. Ultimately, any long-time player desires to see their #1 get the win.

Oh, I was referring to Ambition yeah. I can't say Battle With Seymour could be considered underrated; even people who don't like Seymour regard it very highly.

Seymour's actual theme is underrated imo. The remaster version with the drums adds a real ominous and powerful feeling to the theme, rather than it just being creepy.

I would say Seymour is closer to an anti-hero than a villain. He had good intentions, just meant destroying a corrupt system by any means necessary.
