Not really. It's called propaganda and it almost always happens in larger Save Mys when people try to trick the general voters into believing the winner is a foregone conclusion when that's almost never, ever the case on board 8. Saying it once was annoying, but posting again harping on it warranted a reply to it. I've seen "obvious" winners lose or get third all of the time, and usually they're what I was supporting, so yeah, I'm not very thrilled.

Guess I'm looking for a trade for whatever reason now. That's fine I guess, honestly a little shitty way to play but whatever. Sort of alienates me to voting intentionally for the opposite anime by breaking the trade off in an embargo attempt though so it doesn't really make it more likely for your anime to win.

This is the second animated ranking project in a row where my #1 was tanked by one extreme outlier. The two films have the same score if you remove the top and bottom outlier I suppose, and it isn't as if I didn't like A Silent Voice but yeah. Kinda a bummer when you see someone else complain their #1s never win, then they do win and you lose once again. I'd be lying if I didn't say that behavior was a little bit annoying.

Again, stories like this run the risk of an oppressive government possibly limiting what you can buy because "video games cause violence" or "video games cause rape". No one is really going to look at it as it just being these communities you dislike; there will no doubt be people who just blame the games themselves.

You shouldn't, because the media will spin this against the games themselves instead of the people. The problem with this exposure is that a lot of people can't distinguish between individuals and larger groups. Again, it's like in the 90's where there are some violent and angry people who just happen to play video games. When that made it to the press, video games were targeted and immediately put the blame upon. Even Trump has uttered such comments during his presidency.

I'm uncertain why anyone who likes games, which I think makes you a "gamer" too, would want this type of story to be taken by the mainstream media who has a history of spinning this in an unhelpful direction.

Yeah, that's my issue with it. It feels like it implies that the majority of gamers exhibit these traits, when it's actually an extreme minority. Imagine the number of people who play Smash, then imagine the number that play it competitively, then imagine the actual number of offenders. That's for this particular case here, of course, as an example. The number is very small on the end compared to the number on the beginning of that equation. It's like when are you considered a "gamer" proper?

It just feels like those idiots from the 90's with video game violence. It's a dangerous opinion to have and makes you look uninformed.

In what world are either of these films underrated. They were both nominated for all the awards either was AFAIK, and they're the top 2 anime movies on every ranking collection I've seen.

I mean Your Name was a global phenomenon; a traditionally animated film has not enjoyed that type of success, especially from overseas, for a very long time. It nearly reached Spirited Away box office levels and is a top 10 grosser for the history of 2D animation atm. A Silent Voice might be as critically hailed, but it never achieved the popularity of Your Name.
