Not to mention having the coolest limit break in the series! And she had an iconic second white dress outfit before Yuna made it cool! In fact, one of the strongest entrance scenes for a character in the series, surely. Man I never got why she's so hated, she really has it all. I think some fans just hate characters who openly express their emotions to those around them without apology (Tidus too).

Yeah they go to that well too many times but that's hardly her fault! (And an FF8R could fix that!) I always liked that she was the outsider to the group too. And even with the damseling she develops a lot through the game and I feel this goes unacknowledged unlike with Squall (And I mean clearly he is way more popular than her so idk what that's about)
And I know this is way off topic now but while I'm in Rinoa (+Squall) defence mode, this is still one of the best scenes in the series. The game relies so much on Squall's internal monologue I'm not sure how they'd translate that (and the party monologues with the Laguna scenes). I'm still so amazed at how well they incorporate body language in this game as is. I mean they're probably never doing a full 8R so it's a moot point but we can dream... Like businesswise I get it'd be a super risky move but in terms of which game needs it I think 8 could benefit so much from a proper grounds-up redo. Clean up some of those messy plot reveals and adjust the narrative framing to emphasise some of the really cool twists they had that were weirdly left as background.

I figured 6R would be the next most likely given how widely beloved it clearly is (including in my other topic!) and how divisive VIII is, though really I think the likely scenario is that 7R is a one-off (or however-many-off it ends up being) undertaking for what is far and away the single most popular game in the series.

It's not as unlikely as you think.
Assuming nothing from the PS2 or later is getting one since there's no real point, there are only a couple realistic candidates. (III/IV/VII obviously already have their remakes and IX doesn't need one, but any of I/II/V/VI/VIII could see a remake on the new consoles without it being much of a surprise for me. Probably won't be II or V next, but it's never easy to predict Squenix.) ... Copied to Clipboard!
