Black Eagles was picked in every playthrough topic and lets play I've seen, which sucks because they are by far the worst, in both story and overall house strength.

I went with BL first and I'm happy with that since they're the best house. But it was a debate between them and black eagles though, so I'm happy I made the good choice.

Don't worry about the timer. It's basically impossible to not "fail" that, and the only consequence is you'll be set back a minute with extra time on the clock.

But time for the final chapter which has divided the fanbase really hard. I (and many other people) personally love the ending, but some people say it ruined the entire series. It will be interesting to see where you fall.

People often misunderstand how elecrobombs work. They only block wireless communications, not the electronics themselves. Keebo would be unaffected by electrobombs because he's not being wirelessly controlled.

Understanding this difference is going to be crucial for the trial and even the next chapter.

If this is about everyone saying "no we don't want to suspect ______!" after someone confessed, this is a rather tame reaction coming from you, given what you said about the character previously. It makes me think you did not believe the confession at this point. Kokichi lies a lot, but he also tells the truth quite often, and I picked up that confession as the truth from word 1. Also for the rest of the trial, be careful on judging if something is a lie, even if Kokichi says it's a lie, that can also be a lie. I'll explain that more when this trial is done.

Also I have no idea how you got this body swapping theory, but you seemed so sure somehow.

One thing people often miss about lie bullets is when you hold the button, the truth bullet text changes to the lie text, so you'll know exactly what your lying about. I've seen some LPs where they try and mentally reverse the truth bullets statement and guess what the lie is, but you don't have to do all that work, it's right there.

As for case 3, I personally liked the murder mystery and didn't find it obvious. The main problem is the wasted potential. 2 ways, first bringing someone back from the dead is wasted. Second, and the biggest wasted potential in the whole series in my opinion, if someone else killed Angie. Monokuma introduced a rule where only the first kill counts, so that opened the door to the possibility of continuing the game with an actual blackened in the group. But they didn't do anything with that rule and just made Kiyo do both murders.

IT'S A LIE! is probably my favorite non-trial moment in the series, hilarious.

And about lying, I think there was just 1 point in each trial where you have to lie to continue, and the character will tell you outright when that is. There are also optional lies in trials that you can do, called backdoor's, where all you get some silly lines of dialog and then the trial continues as normal. You know when you have an optional lie because the music is different. I never bothered with the mechanic.

Visually so far the trials are the weakest they've been.

I find it the best, but not because of the color pallet, but because of the animations. The text moves in much more creative and interesting ways and there's more effects to liven it up a bit.

And enjoy V3 TC, it's my personal favorite of the series. But I agree in that don't look up anything about the game, at all, at any point. This game has so many twists that you will definitely spoil yourself, especially one spesific one that's incredibly easy to accidently find that I don't want to give any hints to, but people who have played know exactly which one it is.

In DR2 in the second case, Peko's logic confuses me. Assuming nobody, including Monokuma, would buy the silly tool logic, which is absolutely something she should have assumed, by trying to get away with it, she was putting Kuzuryu's life in danger, which seems like something she wouldn't want to do. I don't really think it was thought through very well.

Their logic was Fuyuhiko was the killer, he's the actual blackened because she's just a "tool". So everyone was wrong when they voted for Peko and thus Fuyuhiko get's to walk away free.

There's a reason why UDG is considered the darkest entry in the series, and some people skip it entirely because of its themes. I just watched a cutscene compilation on youtube because I just cared about the story, although it doesn't matter at all if you just wanted to go 1, 2, V3. It's optional, but interesting.

Krieg literally has the best skill trees

Agreed, I have played all characters from every game (some more than once to use different trees) and just about all Krieg builds were the most fun.

Although Salvador with a grog nozzle/unkempt harold is absolutely the most broken thing in the whole series. I was soloing raid bosses in less than 30 seconds.

It's also on Gamepass if you have that.

It's a lot of fun, but very different from Slay the Spire. The basic mechanics are you have your unit cards and spell cards and 3 floors of the train. On your turn you place your unit cards on the floors on the train (enemies always start at the bottom and go upwards) and maybe cast some spells. Hit end turn and the units will auto attack the enemies on their floor for 1 turn. When the turn is over, the enemies move up 1 floor, your units stay on their floor. It's kind of like a tower defense game where you setup your units and the enemy slowly makes their way to the goal.

There are only 8 battles in a run (around 45 minutes per run), but between each fight you can change a lot of stuff in your deck, but your deck can never get huge like in StS. But there is a ton of variety in that there are 5 clans (think the 4 classes in StS) with 2 heroes each, each with a different starting set of cards and their own unique mechanics. Then after you pick your primary clan and hero, you pick a secondary clan and hero, all coming with their own cards and you can get cards from both clans card pools. In StS terms, it's like if you were to mix an ironclad with a defect and get a mix of both their card pools. So with 2 heroes per clan, 5 clans, and you pick 2 of them, that's 40 combinations of your basic deck and gameplay strategies.

I wouldn't say one replaces the other, they're both very different games and I'll play a run of both of them occasionally.

Holy shit, the (Improved) Hangman's Gambit tutorial is insane to read.

"Improved" Hangman's Gambit is worse than the last one, but it's really not that bad. All it is is matching letters. You need an M so you pick one and save it, when another M comes by, shoot your stored one to combine them, then shoot the combined letter to place it in the word. Sometimes you might have to use some strategy and store and release letters so letters don't crash into each other, or maybe combine letters prematurely because you know you'll need it soon. The tutorial does a bad job at explaining it, but I actually found it fun by the end of the game.

And yes, this and V3 are a lot less hand holdy and simple to figure cases out. You might guess the killer early, but you'd likely not understand most of the details of the murders. Like I think trial DR2 trial 1 is more complicated than all of the trials in DR1, with the exception of maybe case 2.

I like the first one better than V3 simply because I HATE it's ending. Won't talk about since TC may eventually.play it, but good lord did I hate it.

And I loved the ending, and all the playthroughs I've watched they've loved it too. But IIRC from past DR playthroughs topics, didn't you stop after the first first chapter and read the ending?

Glad you liked the first one, just remember that the first is often said to be the weakest of the main 3 games. IMO, 2 is a huge step up in every single way, and V3 is a smaller step up from 2. It's very rare to find someone who thinks 1 is better than 2 or V3, so it only gets better from here.

When I'm at home, I'm usually on my desktop unless I'm watching TV in the living room (like right now). If I wasn't here, I'd be on my desktop posting this.

I can do a lot more with my desktop than on my phone since it's faster and I have 2 screens. Usually I have YouTube videos or movies playing on one screen while I'm on gamefaqs. Or I'm playing a PC game and I'll take a break by switching to the other monitor and browse gamefaqs or any other site, then switch back when I'm done. Can't do that on my phone (easily at least).

UDG is a completely different style of game (third person shooter). It like a spin off but it is canon, but you won't miss anything by skipping it. If you don't care about the gameplay you can just watch a video of all the cutscenes, as the story is pretty interesting.

About how long are these games? I got all three in a PS4 collection.

Each game is longer than the one before. The first game is the shortest, Steam says my playtime was 25 hours, 2 was 31 hours, V3 is 36 hours.

I love the series, but the first game is generally regarded as the weakest (but still good, and also mandatory, story wise). I personally like V3 more than 2, but it's a very close second.

The only thing I check is the number of items. If I got 3 things, I make sure there are 3 things in the bag. It's been a very long time since I've gotten a wrong order anywhere I've gone. I also don't go in the drive thru and always go inside. If I have to talk to a person you just say the order clearly and make sure they got everything before moving on (after working in fast food, you learn all the ways people can mess up an order). And I've never had any issues ordering from a kiosk.

Hopefully they actually fight to a conclusion instead of needing to team up to fight a greater threat.

Back in 2017 the director said there will be a definitive winner, plus the recent poster has the tagline "one will fall". So it's probably safe to say they won't pull that cliche unless the higher ups force that type of ending.
