Yes and no. People like to say that media literacy is at an all time low but really it's more that people like to show their ass for no reason on social media. And by no reason I usually really mean shoehorn things into an unflinching worldview, but I digress.

I'd say that "extremely smart" is too far and probably pandering, but even if audiences aren't smarter I would say they're more discerning. If for no other reason, there are too many movies and shows and etc in this genre to watch everything by most people's standards.

However, even if I'm just completely off base, budgets are simply too bloated for the same wide-net tactics to work, let alone to continually dig deeper.

I think you could remove Cloud in the simulator in Remake as well, but given that there was exactly one 3-person party for that no one cared to.

To my understanding, the part people are ignoring when comparing Yuzu to Bleem is that Yuzu wasn't try to charge for an emulator. They were pay walling functionality specifically for playing TotK behind their Patreon. To the point other people patched it on their own instantly because it was simply carved out.

Also, my understanding in regards to Bleem is that they won injunctions, not that any actual lawsuits were ever seen to completion or that any precedent was ever set.

I haven't started yet because I'm still finishing up BG3 (I've interrupted that far too many times already), but seeing the piano game fills me with dread because every other day my right stick has a mind of its own. My left stick also has dead zone issues but not as bad.

But also definitely not never. Wolverine debuted in a Hulk comic, so it's safe to say it was a little while before he could have overtaken him.

Edit: Having said that, the fact he is 2nd in comic appearances when he is considerably newer than all the other characters you mentioned does go to show how insane his popularity with comic readers truly is.

Pre-MCU Hulk is 2 or 3 and it's not even close. Even before the 2000s movie people referenced the Lou Ferrigno Hulk for decades.

I'd say people would get The Thing first out of the Fantastic Four because he's kinda similar to The Hulk.

Visually he's the most recognizable of the F4 by far, but then many would blank on an actual name.

Also some of you don't really appreciate how much more recognizable DC characters in general were over Marvel before the MCU.

I guess in my view "general recognition" is more like the percentage of people who would say "Oh I've heard of them" or "Oh I've seen that guy before".

Also F4 was and arguably still is in a weird place where everyone instantly recognizes them but very few can name any of them, real or hero name, except maybe The Invisible Woman by accident. Like you'd think Mr. Fantastic would be a freebie but it's not.

Like if we're talking "general public recognition" the X-Men have the advantage of the animated series and the movies.

But if we're talking nerds like us (which is generally what these tiers refer to) Iron Man isn't multiple tiers down.

Why wouldn't we be talking general public recognition when it comes to picking a superhero for a movie?

Edit: And even then, the Marvel characters who probably had the biggest disparity between "nerd" and "general" recognition in the past would be more like Punisher, Cable, and Deadpool.

You can game over but it also permanently saves your best performance at the beginning of each stage. So heavy on the "kinda".

But yeah Sifu is great and for free I recommend anyone give it a shot.

I mean lets be clear, every single B8er (unless we have a few from small island nations maybe) has had their countrys government do horrible things, including for most of those countries war crimes, during our lifetimes. You definitely shouldnt be automatically supporting it just because its (the government of) your country. I mean, we were all around for the Iraq War. And like the Iraq War in 20 years I suspect it will be hard to find somebody in Israel who supports what the IDF have done.

There is one aspect to the Iraq War that will age better than what's going on now. The US actually went after their stated human targets.

Bloodborne is a weird one for me because most of the good things about it are also bad.

The Rally system is one of the single most brilliant things they've ever done to the point that many games adopted their own take, but in practice 90% of the time it serves as bait to get you killed in boss fights if you try to take it seriously.

It upped the pace of these games and made people learn to dodge instead of shielding to the point I can barely stand to use a shield in their other games anymore, but they massively punish you for getting hit outside the iframes of a dodge that sometimes you're safer eating a hit.

They removed upgrade dependencies from healing items only to make them consumables that most people will run out of at some point when they're still learning.

Chalices are an "easy" way to give more content, but by not making the main progression ones actually procedural it kills any replay value. And most of the exclusive bosses are really not very good.

There's literally two ways, Depths and past all the drakes. The key just lets you skip other areas and get to the drakes earlier. DS1 has brilliant world design that does an excellent job of disguising how it's funneling you into certain areas. Dark Souls 2 pulls the same trick of having paths converge sometimes but others it opens up a different route with another endpoint.

Even if you toss out early sections and dead ends from DS1 as openness for whatever purity test you wanna use, DS2 is still doing the same thing in the opposite order. Like the exact same thing.

The path to Lost Sinner is similar to getting to Blighttown albeit a bit more obvious. The only other time you have a real choice is whether or not drop down a well a bit more.

Except the part where even without the Master Key there are multiple ways into Blighttown and you can beat the game without ever setting foot in Lower Undead Burg let alone Depths, something that a lot of people don't even realize.

Yeah I don't quite get how DS2 is particularly less linear than, really anything besides DS3, but DS1 especially. Its choke point comes later but then proceeds to not open up again, Memories withstanding.

Honestly, the FF8 crew looks way less aged then "high schoolers" in live action. Barret looks completely fine, younger than Cid does for sure. And Lightning is actually a model outside the game for... some reason. Snow and Cid are way worse than any of those.

Yeah, if anything Auron he shouldn't have aged at all from how we see him in flashbacks, which is him at 25 btw.

Its been used for a number of games but Metroid Prime was the famous instance that made it into a meme. Also TLoU doesnt do enough new for the medium to be a Citizen Kane equivalent.

I think it's Lae'zel > Halsin > Gale > Yenna in that priority order based on who is in your party at the time the kidnapping happens.

She also won't take a locked-in love interest to my understanding.

Minthara is also potential choice, but I believe it's lower priority than everyone but Yenna.
