The reason boss runbacks get largely reduced or removed in later games is that they fall into one of two categories. They're either easily trivialized once people learn how to play these games, or they're awful bullshit like this.

Even then Elden Ring tosses in the Placidusax runback for no reason.

Also the runback for either Chariot or Skeleton Lords (I forget which) becomes pretty stupid in NG+. DS2 is like the only game that really adds shit to NG+, but it's not always for the best.

I know you fought the trio. I may have missed you talking about it, but the boss at the end of the other co-op section is even worse than these two.

Each DLC has an area that the idea was to force co-op without actually forcing co-op. None of them are great but this one is not only awful, playing co-op really doesn't "solve" anything about it. Except the boss I guess.

I've never really understood the strong distaste a lot of people have for Yew. I mean her laugh shtick is stupid but I can just tune out for a sec whenever she does it.

Honestly this is a mostly pretty solid case to me. Really most of its points are deducted at the expense of Edgeworth's character. If I wanted to DA the shit out of it I could argue this outcome just hardened him further, but that's probably putting more thought into it than the writers did.

Nothing about this case was actively terrible but it really just never did anything worth mentioning. I also remember feeling like Franziska's only purpose here is to give us a competent adversary for a few minutes, which seems like a waste.

I mean whatever problems they had in 2016 it sure as shit was never, at any point, money. They raised concerns at some point but it was really just never actually all that bad and a weird fake "humble-brag" to talk about how much Trump could just self-finance.

But no I'm not out here unfurling the "Mission Accomplished!" banners either.

Now, a verified account being promoted to the top of the list is almost guaranteed to be spouting nothing but made up shit, since 90%+ of the people paying to use the platform are grifters and people desperate for attention. Oh that exists, but not on the app which is how most people use Twitter.

It even knows the difference between people that paid and people that were "given" Blue, apparently.

Not simply for this story, but in general I can't begin to convey how much the reliability of Twitter replies to contain any accurate information whatsoever is inversely proportional to the number of people replying. Twitter won't even load comments past a certain point so literally everyone there has paid for it.

To put it another way, we somehow live in a world where the top YouTube comments are a more accurate source of information than the top Twitter replies.

If you go straight to Aava without getting the Eye of the Priestess first, she's invisible. And that's still totally winnable, but the game makes it clear you shouldn't be doing it.

Approaching the fog wall for the first time, a voice warns: "Go back. Aava is watching". After entering the mist, the voice speak again: "Poor Aava, do you miss your king? The one without the sign has arrived. Do be merciful, and end things swiftly." Aava is initially invisible and will attack the player in this form.

Real talk though, the only reason for the massive time gap in this game is Trucy. Even though 7 years isn't enough time to fool us into thinking it's his biological daughter, they needed some time gap to give it an air of mystery and forge a believable bond between her and Phoenix.

It's 4-0 in particular that really seals up the minimum ranking for me. It's fucking baffling that they have to straight up just have Klavier say you can't present the non-forged evidence and that's that. Phoenix can't even be like, "So here's this evidence that some little girl just gave me out of nowhere. Please put it under the highest forensic scrutiny possible." He just goes along with it as if he obtained that evidence completely normally.

Also both AAI games take place before 4-0 so canonically this is the last time we have seen Gumshoe. What a fucking waste.

As for the rest of 4-4 I don't have much to add that hasn't been said. It would probably be more like a 4 for me though.

Ill be honest I don't remember day 2 like at all because by the end of day 1 I was just entirely checked out. I suspect if I replay AJ this could go even lower.

Samus is quite probably a case where her design is more recognizable than Lara but her name isn't.

What I am certain about is that the reboot games have not kept Lara Croft in the minds of non-gamers. She won because it was a British poll, but the ones voting for her probably haven't played a video game in 20 years if ever. The ones that do play games are the ones voting for Shadowheart and Astarion.

To me this is every bit as good as 3-1.

You could say the greatest weakness of this case is that the rest of the game fails spectacularly to follow up on its set up. Kristoph's motivation makes no sense since Zak couldn't have implicated him about anything, nothing Zak does at any point is the least bit sane, and Phoenix's characterization here goes out the window almost immediately. But I truly do not hold it against this case because if the rest of the story held up these things didn't need to be true.

Olga was a great example of a non-guilty witness who actually had every reason to lie. The first usage of Perceive might be the only time I truly like it, particularly in AJ where they confine it to trials and not investigations. Your assistant being the murderer might be the biggest twist to the meta they've ever done. Revealing that Phoenix actually did manipulate this crime scene culminating in Apollo punching him after the trial is such a great finish.

Shame about the rest of the game though.

All the DLCs have good bosses, but it's really weird how every game manages a far superior dragon boss than their base games. If that trend continues in Elden Ring I'll be really happy about that.
