I applied for public relations job for a company that I couldn't find much about because it fit a lot of what I was looking for. I was hoping it was just a newer company even though it was already kind of a red flag.

An hour later, I got a response from...a totally different company altogether, which I was able to find out about. It advertises PR and marketing jobs and then offers scam multi-level marketing/pyramid scheme roles instead. They've already called like twice and sent a few emails, which I'm fully intending to just ignore.

Job hunting fucking sucks.

The idea that the evil can be defeated and wrapped up neatly is less scary than the idea of something that seems impossible to kill. That's kind of what it boils down to. The idea of the unknown, ever-present foe with no escape will often stick with you more and be scarier in the long run than the idea of something that's easily defeated.

I think Persona 5 Arena is still vaguely possible, and they may try to make it canon again.

And they'd probably try to bring in P3/4 characters but older again, which would be really interesting in the timeline since 3/4 and 5 are fairly far apart, I believe.

The first game is....okay.

Its gameplay is flat-out not good. There's no internal logic for the puzzles at all, so it comes down to pure trial and error without any problem solving or anything. That was my biggest problem with the game, you just kind of tried random options and hoped they worked, or reset if they didn't.

The story has some really good characters and some cool ideas, but I didn't like how the game concluded.

Overall, I'd call it good, but not great. I'd be interested in a sequel that worked on the first game's problems, though.

There's a teaser site that seems to point at a new AI game. It's very random since the first game was really niche, but it'd be really cool if it did pan out.

I think Sharon was fine since it was established pretty early that she was in Ouroborous, and I think it was pretty clear that she had more going on than it initially appeared even beyond that. Her involvement with Franz was an interesting tie to the main plot, and I was fine with her going evil for a while before flipping back, especially when she found her own convictions beyond her duties. Her turn felt organic and relevant to the plot, and her finding herself and quitting the organization later on was a cool resolution for her character.

Claire, yeah, she dropped a ton for me by the end of 4. It got to the point where I would just kind of imagine honking instead of a voice when she talked because her entire character became so annoying. "I don't agree with anything I'm doing, but I'm going to keep doing it. I'm sad about this. HONK." I hope she gets some kind of redemption in Hajimari, because she was great in CS1-3 but flat-out sucked in 4.

Okay, I finished CS4, and it was....yeah, not fantastic.

There were just way too many characters and too many things going on in the story in general. It got to the point where nobody got a chance to shine and a lot of emotional weight was removed.

I also thought (big spoilers) that the Curse of Erebonia was a really bad plot point that ruined a lot of character motivations and just felt like the Curse of Plot Convenience that just sort of did whatever the plot needed it to at any given point. It was easily some of the worst writing in the series for me.

It did have some really fantastic moments, though. I'm just very mixed on the overall experience and the flaws stand out a bit more than the positives.

3 > 2 > 4 > 1, probably, but I might swap 4 and 1 at some point. I think 1 was a bit too much of a slow burn at points without the fantastic pacing that 3 had between its big plot payoffs. 4 had higher highs but much lower lows, so it's a tough call.

It looks like someone watched Get Out and really wanted to do their own soft remake of it.

I'm not the only one making that comparison, for what it's worth. Get Out was trending on Twitter last night because of how similar this movie looks to it.

I feel like they should have been a bit more subtle about ripping off Get Out.

But yeah, this looks pretty atrocious. Maybe the actual movie is a bit sillier, but this seemed like it was taking itself way too seriously for what it is.

I felt like it was a bit slow in the middle with two eh main plot episodes + Twister in a row, but otherwise, I loved it.

Most of the death games were really good in some way or another, and they almost all had really strong emotional payoff.

That's good. I wasn't sure how people felt about it.

Like...there are some really, really cool moments, but a lot of it is very contrived and goes on too long. Almost no character gets to shine at anything outside of bonding events because the cast is just too huge.

I'm up to where I'm about to do the Arianrhod rivalry and I kind of just want the game to end. It's sad since I've loved the series up until now, but 4 has a lot of big problems.

I don't even hate it for what it's worth, but it's a big letdown after how much I loved 3.

I'm almost at the end of CS4 by now, and I'm...kinda really mixed on it.

I think there's a point where there's just legitimately too much game and too many characters and the entire experience suffers for it. It's kind of a shame after CS3 was so excellent, but I have a lot of issues with this game.

I watched Death Parade recently and absolutely loved it. Almost all of the death games sans Twister were fantastic. The minor characters were really interesting, and I loved unraveling their plotlines over the episodes.

The main story was a bit weaker, but I was still invested in Chiyuki and finding out her deal.

I loved it, personally.

Marcus destroyed my very first run as a kid, because I abused him and got to the Sonia gaiden without anyone being good enough to actually kill. I kind of swore off of Jagens after that.

I know how good they are now, though. But damn did I avoid them like the plague for a long time after that.

Oh my God it's like a completion to see who can be most awful. Microsoft and Ubisoft the only big devs that even vaguely tried and Ubi was pretty boring.

I'll be fair and say that the effects of COVID are really showing. It's kind of clear that a lot of companies just didn't have anything ready to show this year.

Sadly it makes for a very uninteresting E3 experience.

Switch, IMO.

It was originally a 3DS game, so I don't think it's going to look or perform better or worse on any platform. So in this case, Switch really just adds portability, which is nice for a series like this.

It's also the only one getting a physical release in NA, I believe.

There's some explanation for this in a few facets:

One, Misty just genuinely didn't want anything to do with the succession drama. It was mentioned how it regularly tore families apart, and we saw it play out with Morgan. Misty seemed to just want to stay away from all of that after already making her exit, even once her name was cleared.

The other is that she had no real reason to return for quite some time. It would have caused a mess with the succession stuff, and they didn't learn about Morgan's plan until it was already underway. You can argue that going right to Phoenix would have been the better call at that point, though.

I'd imagine that she also just didn't really know how to approach Maya after all that time. By that time, Mia was dead and Misty had been missing for quite a few years. Walking back in and being like "Hey, I know I wasn't here for you for most of your life or when your sister died, but uh, here I am!" would have been pretty awkward and painful. My assumption is that she probably didn't know how to handle it all.

It's a bit speculative, but I don't think she was dumb for it, aside from maybe not going to Phoenix at some point during AA3.
