Fates Conquest = Echoes > Fates Revelation > Fates Birthright > Awakening

Conquest is tough, but has great maps and Fates in general has some really fun mechanics to toy around with. The writing is terrible, but FE stories are generally pretty mediocre anyway. I like a lot of the units in Conquest at least.

Echoes is just...so close to the perfect FE, but misses the mark in a few small ways. It has the best presentation of any FE to date and is generally a blast, but missing elements like the weapon triangle hold it back just a very little bit. This is probably the best package of the bunch, even if I think Fates (particularly Conquest) has a bit better gameplay simply due to being pretty free in general.

Revelation is more of a game that you play on a meta level if you like Conquest and Birthright, or finish Conquest first and don't want to go back to the easier/more simplistic BR. It's a blast to just mess around with units and pairings, and its map design in later chapters is top notch, even if it recycles a ton in early chapters.

Birthright is basically Awakening+. It's easy and the maps are pretty straightforward. It probably has the best plot of any of the Fates games just because it tries to do the least. The unit designs are decent.

Awakening......I really really loved Awakening when I first beat it. But going back to it, I've kinda started to dislike the map design in particular which really sours the game for me. I also find its cast of characters to be largely forgettable, far moreso than any other FE, aside from a few standouts. I liked its storyline well enough, but I felt like it lacks a lot of balance and refinement to its mechanics that Fates really brought in. It's still a decent enough game in its own right, but it's a bit of a black sheep among the 3DS FEs as I've tried to go back to it, at least for me.

One time I was bullied HARD on the school bus in middle school. Like mocked all the way home by almost everyone for nothing, with no one really defending me, and I was lightly beat up. I came home and just sobbed and shook for hours. I never rode the bus again and just spent an hour walking home every evening instead.

In college after a particularly bad day and a perfect storm of factors, I made a really light and in retrospect, half-assed attempt at suicide. I made the mistake of confiding in my dorm's floor advisor about it and he made me go to the hospital for a psych evaluation. I lied my way through it just to get out of therapy or anything.

I actually came very close to suicide again a few months ago. There's a particularly close friend that I talk to all the time and have feelings for (even though he's straight. fml.). We got into a huge huge huge fight and I was almost certain that we'd never talk again at that point and I tried to find my dad's gun, but was unable to find it anywhere. We patched things up eventually anyway.

I'd say those are the three darkest points that come to mind offhand.

Damn...what did you guys fight over?

Of all things, something as stupid as an anime character. It started as a joke that pissed him off for some reason, and it very quickly turned into him calling me annoying and talking about all of the personality traits that he's hated about me and just got incredibly nasty.

I'm still not positive why something so trivial got that bad, but it was incredibly nasty and I was pretty confident that we were done talking for good at that point. He really aired out all of the aspects of me that he hated before pretty much telling me to fuck off.

Even with the limited roster, there are some downright mindboggling decisions here.

Captain Marvel
Doctor Strange

Rocket/Groot (this is how the character was named to me; I%u2019m not sure if it%u2019s just Rocket Raccoon with Groot assists or a redesigned character actually called Rocket/Groot)
Spider-Man
Thanos
Thor
Ultron

The Capcom side is missing a character, but it%u2019s probably someone like Frank West.

Learned some new details over the weekend. I'm going to try to keep it vague and not confirm any characters specifically to avoid ending up on Eventhubs or whatever.

- 28 character launch roster, I know all of them but 1 for sure and I think I might know who the last one is.
- No Ace Attorney, Viewtiful Joe, Final Fight or Okami characters. No Ms. Marvel, no X-Men or F4 to speak of.
- Of the remaining cast there's one returning MvC2 character, nine characters coming back from 3 (ten if the last character is who I think it is) and only four more newcomers.
- I know of one DLC character besides Sigma and he's coming back from MvC2, not sure if he's scheduled for this year or next year.

There's definitely some cool surprises left but I get the impression most people are going to be disappointed.

Other tidbits:

As far as I know, Saikyo has been reliable thus far, and these leaks seem to be cosigned by Ryce who has definitely been reliable.

I'm not sure what Capcom is thinking aside from just rushing the game out really hard for a quick cash-in, but this seems like it's going to be received just as well as SFV was.

The idea of renting a house with some extended family members for a week sounded fun until things got awkward.

Like when my aunt and uncle messed with my grandma by putting on the Ellen DeGeneres show and my grandma called her "That woman who thinks she's a man" and "If I were her mom, I'd beat her to death".

Or when my grandma and cousin/his wife got into a hearty discussion of this gay couple and how they're all "not right" and "fucked up in the head".

There's awkward, and then there's being a closeted gay guy sitting through conversations like those. I think I'm just ready to go home by now.

I'd love to get married. I'd be more interested in just spending time with a guy than in sex, basically.

To elaborate further, I find most parts of males attractive, but I have basically no feeling towards a penis whatsoever. It's like staring at a wall for me, it's a totally neutral stimulus. I can also go for weeks at a time without a single sexual thought. I just don't...have much of a sex drive.

But at the same time, I get crushes on guys and I wouldn't mind having sex with one at all. I'm just far more interested in spending time with one than in just having sex.

Which also makes it difficult because I live in the midwest, so I don't meet...any...gay people unless I were to use a hookup app, and I'm not really interested in anonymous hookups like that.

I was pretty sheltered and lived in a small town anyway, so I didn't really know that men could be attracted to other men. I only knew of "gay" as an insult and that I didn't want to be that.

So I thought I was straight for a long time. I'd try to masturbate to women and it would take me upwards of an hour and take a good deal of effort to really go through with it. I always thought it was boring and wondered why people liked doing that.

Then when I was around 16, I met a bisexual guy online and found out that dudes could like other dudes, and began to worry. I asked him if there was a way I could find out, and he sent me a video of two guys making out, which I enjoyed...a lot.

Then I thought I was bi for another 3-4 years after that until I realized I was exclusively looking at gay porn and that I really didn't have any interest in girls at that stage, either sexually or romantically.

I still routinely wonder if I'm gay because I generally don't have a very high libido and often find myself shying away from really looking at porn or anything. But I definitely have feelings towards men in some capacity, while women do nothing for me. I'm probably either gay with a very low sex drive, or asexual but homoromantic considering I enjoy spending time with guys a good deal.

Yusuke sorta borderline flirts with you if you hang out with him during off days and is fairly clearly not-so-straight regardless. I find it odd that he's seen as straight at all because he seems super explicit.

This take is pretty whiny, but it is pretty ridiculous that a game that's all about both going against social norms and being a self-insert on the main character doesn't have at least one gay romance option.

Especially since the game goes staggeringly far to make Yusuke as gay as possible without really saying it. Anything he ever does that makes him seem interested in women gets undone pretty fast when he clarifies that he doesn't like them sexually but is interested in an artistic sense, and his S Links and bond events are fairly heavy on innuendo. You wouldn't have to alter the script like...at all to make him a romance option aside from adding a bit more dialogue at the end of his S Link.

RE: Kanji, I'm pretty sure the developers have officially stated that they want the players to decide, and that there's no definitive answer. You can interpret him as straight or gay or anywhere in between.

If you have all three routes, I'd start Birthright first. It'll be disappointing after Conquest. It's VERY easy and the maps are more Awakening-esque in that they're generally pretty standard maps while a lot of Conquest's have twists and stuff.

If you're going to start Conquest first regardless, the biggest tip I can possibly offer is to avoid all mages unless they're a kid, or a mage-focused Corrin. Conquest's selection of mages is dismal, leading to either really imbalanced and awful mages (Nyx, Odin) or giving up a healer in a fairly tough game (Elise). Conquest has a lot of units that are prone to being RNG screwed, but the mages are just atrocious.

Like, is it because of the story? Or just gameplay? I'll be playing on normal and I've played several FE games. I don't even mind abusing Phoenix mode.

It's just that Birthright is obscenely easy and the maps are very straightforward. Conquest (and Revelation, really, but that should always be played last) has far more varied map objectives and is much more of a challenge. So Birthright will feel like a massive step down if you play it second. Most people recommend BR -> CQ -> Rev as the recommended order as well, I believe.

As someone who loved MvC3 and UMvC3, and who was formerly excited about MvCI, this trailer/news kinda killed off my hype.

It seems like they're pushing this MCU storyline and trying to make the Capcom side "grittier" to compensate for that. All of my favorite characters are the goofier characters that I see getting cut with this style (namely Tron and Phoenix Wright), while I find a lot of the current picks to be pretty bland.

It doesn't help that September 19th is way too soon for a game that already seemed vaguely rushed.

Hasn't happened and might never happen.

It just seems like a headache to tell my immediate family. It's 50/50 in terms of whether or not they'd be okay with it. My parents and I believe my sister are all liberal and voted for Clinton and whatnot, but my parents (especially my dad) are also pretty racist and I could see those attitudes extending towards gays as well. I don't honestly care all that much about whether or not they would accept me, but it just seems like a headache if they cut off all contact with me entirely. I'd rather not deal with the drama leading up to that.

Not sure how my sister would go, but we've never really been on amazing terms. She was always sort of my bully since she was four years older than me, and I've always been cripplingly shy and just a quiet person in general so I never really stood up to her. We still aren't on amazing terms when it comes to one-on-one contact, though I babysit her kids fairly often and our relationship has improved slightly on that basis. I also love the hell out of my niece and nephew so I wouldn't want to lose that if she were to react poorly.

Beyond that, it comes down to family members that I like, but know wouldn't like it, so I'd rather they not find out. My dad's parents are incredibly intolerant in general but have always been really nice to me. My mom's parents are a bit more tolerant, but I know my grandma in particular hates gay people. I once overheard her talking to my mom about how she can't believe that "that kind of stuff" happens in our area when she heard about "men looking for men" on Craigslist. She also refuses to watch Ellen DeGeneres and admits to hating her because she's a lesbian. But that set of grandparents has always been awesome to me otherwise and I'd rather not lose contact with them.

Same goes for my cousin, who is probably the nicest person I've ever met, but is also a hardcore Christian and pretty far right politically, and who has kind of hinted at not being comfortable with gay people in the past. I'm not as sure how she'd react, but I care about her and would rather not lose that point of contact.

In terms of friends, a few that I know are okay with it do know and were pretty nonchalant about it. I have several others who I know openly hate gays and I haven't bothered to tell them.

Living in an extremely hardcore fundie town in southern Missouri is rough as a gay person. Most people aren't exactly understanding here.

NoES2 is very likely the most gay mainstream movie ever made.

And that counts stuff like Brokeback Mountain.

I'll be honest, most of the people I see drinking diet sodas are the "Well look I'm saving calories so I can order anything I want but it's okay because of the diet soda" people.

I know it's a negative stereotype, but it seems to hold true from what I've seen.

So it sounds like it was gradual and largely a combination of post-WWII factors then?

I actually glanced through the Wiki article for North Korea a bit ago, but I didn't really see much in terms of how this specific ideology developed, unless I missed it. So I thought someone else might have a better picture and could explain it. Sorry.

Like for as long as I've heard about it, it's been hyper-isolationist with extraordinarily toxic relations with the rest of the world and awful leaders who utilize a lot of propaganda to keep its citizens functionally brainwashed.

I'm not terribly familiar with the country's history, though, so has it been roughly the same since Korea split into North and South, or was there a specific leader who pushed the country in that direction at some point since then?

From what I've heard, he takes on roles that he knows are bad simply for easy money and the chance to travel. I believe he's done interviews in which he's acknowledged how bad a lot of his movies are, but admitted that he keeps doing it for those reasons.

For myself? 0. Maybe a 1. I live in Missouri. The odds of us being targeted even if a nuke could reach MO are........low. I can't think of a reason to target Missouri aside from St. Louis, but even that would be incredibly pointless.

Do you even think NK could even get a nuke all the way to St Louis?

No. I'm just saying that, even if they could hit any target they wanted, I'd imagine that Missouri would be incredibly low on the list of potential targets.

In terms of it happening at all? 7-8. I think that they're dumb enough to try it and no one wins in that scenario. Not one goddamn person. They either hit something and kill a lot of people then get wiped off the map, or don't hit anything and likely get wiped off the map for trying. The political shitstorm that would follow in addition to the loss of innocent life on either side would be terrible. It's a terrible no-win situation that's looking more and more likely with each passing day. I know that they tend to make empty threats out the ass, but I feel like they're closer to really trying it this time and we have a far more trigger-happy leader at the moment. Things could go very wrong very quickly.
