This and the OG spider-man are far and away the best comic book video games (unless you want to count fighters). Just the sheer act of swinging is so fun. That being said, I think the fighting could be better, and I'm looking forward to seeing if they change it up in the official sequel.

Boy I hope future Dances of Deduction are less tedious than 1-2! I get the feeling they won't be and we're stuck with them taking a really long time. Oh well, I guess they really wanted to show off those 3DS capabilities.

I'm only in 1-3 but let me just say that I don't think "multiple witnesses" works. It didn't really work in Layton and it's not really working here. I just don't understand the point. Sure one of the witnesses makes a weird noise, you gesture over and continue the pressing. But if this is done at the expense of actually interesting witness characters and evidence-presenting puzzles, then why bother? It barely even counts as a "puzzle" because it's so obvious when it happens.

This is separate from the new jury mechanic which seems interesting, and I'm willing to see how that develops.

Like FFIV, you really have to consider historical context when evaluating this game's story. Even then though, I think the game has a lot going for it in terms of characterizing its world/side characters (people like Dampe, Malon, Saria etc.)

point taken (though I personally haven't seen a Disney live-action/cg remake and have no plans to).

in evangelion's case I think the rebuilds are really interesting, and I don't think the series needed a faithful movie adaptation. in general, I'm not a fan of abridged anime movies of longer series (the gurren lagann films, for example). I think it's much more interesting to do something like the escaflowne movie that gives a new spin to the characters.

rebuilds are like a completely new version of the show; it maybe starts out with a similar premise but each one goes to very different places

I'm not as high on this game as most. I think the game's narrative kind of craps out after Seven joins, and what ends up being the endgame boss is less interesting than the conflict set up before it. Still, everything leading up to that is pretty good.

MBMBaM has kinda felt like it's been on autopilot for a while. They're self aware sometimes that they're just talking to fill 45-55 minutes but still. The Adventure Zone...I've put the latest run (Ethersea) on the backlog as I'm not sure I really want to listen to another arc.

I mean the last one was so bad it had youtubers making 2 hour long videos about how much the McElroys suck now. The combination of "Graduation" tanking, the pandemic, Griffin having a new kid, and yahoo answers shutting down basically created intensely bad energy for a while, but I think they're coming out of it. Except for maybe Travis who really needs to get his life right.

Good. They never should have ended the original guidance given that we have no system in place for verifying vaccination status, and it seems that they were wrong about it incentivizing more people to get vaccinated. With cases rising again (and the vaccines somewhat less effective against delta) reinstituting it's the right call (though yes, I imagine compliance is going to be lower than had they never ended the original guidance in the first place).

I agree with all of this to be clear. It just frustrates me to no end to hear friends constantly defending the CDC when they've been inept this entire time. This isn't even hindsight being 20/20 either: there have consistently been "stricter" scientific recommendations that they have purposefully ignored in order to play politics/economic recovery, in both presidential administrations. Like they had to have known this was going to happen a month ago, when the warning signs were all there.

I'm just mad cause now I have to teach with a mask on. Anyone have tips for reducing glasses fog? The tape trick didn't work.

Also in response to Corrik: the CDC's already updated their recommendations and I would be all for mandatory vaccinations

The opening act is near perfect. Everything after is still overall good(though with some peaks and valleys) until huge materia comes into play, when the game feels a bit rushed. I don't think the ending is that great. I'm looking forward to seeing how Remake handles this, once it gets to this part of the game in 15 years or so.

The thing is 2/3 of these shows have major character resurrections, so sure, Dr. Strange 2 can have a throwaway line about Vision being alive, but I highly doubt they're going to have a flashback/joke/recap that does a satisfying job of explaining that, so people are going to think they need to watch the shows.

It's a business strategy basically.

I hate to say it but the GBA ports are absolutely the best way to play I, II, IV, V, and VI, assuming you're not going to splurge on an SNES and original cartridges of IV and VI. Emulate if you must, avoid the mobile versions like the plague. I also suggest avoiding the PSX ports of V and VI, as the slowdown/load times are really bothersome.

Hopefully the upcoming Steam pixel remasters are good, but I don't know what the story is with those in terms of release schedule.

I vastly prefer the original Tactics to the War of the Lions version, but a healthy dose of that is nostalgia probably.

With XV, I guess you really want to make sure you get the Royal Edition that has all the DLC episodes, which from what I hear add a lot to the story (though apparently in a cumbersome way).
