Takes all the worst tropes (like clones and that shitty fake illuminati) and makes something wholly unsatisfying that lasts for fucking ever.

And why is the final boss a T-Rex. Why is anything this game. Except Sherry, Sherry is a delight.

Resident Evil 6 is such a totally convoluted web of events that you have to be a total diehard RE fan already if you want to even begin to get into it. The campaigns are certainly uneven but for better or worse they grab insanity by the reins and run with it all the way. Look I'm totally biased here; I love these characters, Chris facing down Wesker's son or Jake and Sherry (easily the strongest story for me) taking up the legacy of their parents before them hits me right in the fanservice. I think this game does Chris & his PTSD in a surprisingly compelling way, with a strong ending. Leon & Helena is mostly rote but there's enough substance from his relationship with Ada to still keep things interesting. Honestly though, there are definitely parts I don't like. Everything with Ada, her clones, and Simmons is terrible. I think it totally blows her character. And in typical RE fashion, almost none of the plot threads from this game have been expanded on since. I'm always going to love RE lore and its storytelling no matter how dumb it gets, and this is a well directed, well voiced, and ambitious story that doesn't always nail what its going for, but I appreciate the effort nonetheless.

Its weird because I think it's a real wild rollercoaster ride that executes on hype and action really well, and I find all three final bosses really good set pieces that would be worthy of any single game.

Its so stand alone though, and if you try to take the plot seriously it gets worse. The Leon vs Chris angle is kinda neat but also a little cringe.

Stuck out like a sore thumb for how bad it was when I did a full series replay this year.

Leon's campaign was especially bad and I've no idea why I thought that was the best part of the game when I played it for the first time years ago.

Chris' Gears of War campaign was actually the most entertaining part of the game and the story for all the wrong and hilarious reasons this time around. It is the only reason why I give the story a 2 instead of a 1.

I played it just like...2 years ago? and I don't remember much. For good or for worse. It really left no impact whatsoever so..

I was very surprised when I played it, expecting it to be unplayable garbage. But then I found it pretty enjoyable even. It's really not a bad game

Yes, it's not a "Resident Evil" game, I mean fuck Chris campaign has zombies with machine guns taking cover, but it's still a good game

I will say my first initial playtrhough was single player only, I didn't have a good time. Outside of maybe the earlier Leon sections.

I played it years later with my Fiance in co-op and had a much enjoyable time. Story is still bad though.

It's very easily the worst mainline entry. It still blows some of the terrible spin-offs out of the water though. I used to hate it too, playing it would actually make me sick due to the terrible camera mixed with the chaotic action. I reevaluated it some years later with the improved camera, and actually found it pretty fun! The combat actually has a ton of depth to it which especially comes out in Mercs. Quickshooting, sprinting into a slide then reversing it, all the crazy melee moves with everyone having their own unique moveset, dual-wielding, damn it's like they made a character action game out of RE, coming full circle with DMC. I totally get why people hate it, there are truly terrible elements like all the vehicle segments, QTEs, tedious boss fights, but I do see a lot of the game's positives now more than I used to.

I disliked it when I first played it because it was nothing I hoped it would be, I enjoyed it when I picked it up again a few years later because it was much better than my brain told me it was! (I.e I went in with low expectations)

Yeah. The tidal wave of negativiy felt pretty far removed from the reality.

Heres the thing: when you played it matters as they patches it a lot and the PC version that later console versions were based on fixed loads of stuff while also adding features. Launch RE6 was pretty terrible.

In terms of story though its bad. Tries to do a little of everything yet fails on all fronts. There are some moments where it gets the Fast&Furious thing almost right, along with some decent characters, though everything else is terrible.

I was really referring to the game as a whole! I'm fine with people crapping on the story. I just give a lot of props to well directed cutscenes and action sequences.
