Do you feel comfortable living in rural/suburban areas?

For the first 30 years of my life I lived in a big city, and it was fine.

The last 5 yeras I have lived in a very small town, and besides having to drive 25 minutes for a bunch of stuff I like it.

Moving to a more rural setting is something I am looking forward to. I like solitude and being by myself and not having to deal with other people most of the time.

Honestly if you have the time those are all things that can (and arguably should) be done yourself. You'll save a ton of money, learn valuable skills, and dude it feels incredible pimping and fixing your house yourself. I'm currently redoing my bathroom from a complete teardown including new drywall and I'm not a Carpenter, just have common sense, watch videos/read guides, and know when to call the professionals.

I'm basically just painting the bedrooms and living room, then getting someone else to install carpet in the bedrooms.

The only things I have actually done so far is tap everything off, change light bulbs (and wash the fixtures), and start peeling off the wallpaper border (which fucking sucks).

I plan on doing a lot more stuff in the summer (I'm a teacher and off then), but this will at least allow me to move in and not deal with how ugly things look currently.

There is a 2 acre plot of land between me and my neighbor to the west, I'd say its about 1/5 of a mile.
I am actually friends with them so it's nice to have someone I know nearby.

In pretty much the middle of nowhere. Though only an 8 minute commute to work.

Work that needs to be done before I move in: paint living room and bedrooms, carpet bedrooms, replace baseboard heating in each room (current ones work, I just have no idea how to paint them).

I loved that show. I would watch it all the time whenever it was on. My favorite was when the family showed Theo what being an "adult" was like in terms of having to pay for things.

While there are technically better and newer rides at Cedar Point those all have long lines and you can ride the Magnum over and over again with almost no wait.

Buying a house with a water softener. Never had to deal with one before.
No one has live in the house for several months, so the tank is looking pretty dirty, and there is no salt in it.
So I don't know if I can just add salt, regenerate the system and be good to go, or if I need to clean/flush it all first before adding more salt.
I think my neighbor should be able to stop by and help me figure it out, or else I'll have to call somebody out and look at it.
