For guys with actual results, how important is the first message?

I don't feel like cycling through profiles that are nonexistent or inaccurate just to make a personalized first message if it'll go ignored often.

If you are super hot and they instantly swiped right then first message don't matter, they will respond to anything.

If they might have hesitated before swiping right then I feel like the first message actually matters.

I wouldn't use the same message every time, but I also wouldn't necessarily say something directly about their profile/pics unless it really connected to you and you want to know more.

I only suggest not just saying "hey" and saying something that they have something to respond to, like a question, really doesn't matter what, sometimes pointless random ones get the best conversations going.

I have never been very optimistic when it comes to dating (since I've never actually been in a relationship, so I am 0 for a few hundred) but over the past few months it has gotten worse. Now if I were to meet a girl who I liked I would just think "Whats the point of trying?"

I know I am the only reason I am unhappy right now, but I can't help myself. I basically obsess over the fact that I am alone, I wish I didn't but I think about it all the time.

There is a quote that says "If you can't be happy alone you won't be happy with someone else." And I guess I sort of agree with it, but there has to be a limit on that. Like if somebody is 90 and was alone their entire life are you really hate on them for being unhappy about it lol? I just reached max of what I can be by myself, I've done it all, I want to see what I am missing out on.

When was your change of heart, billcom? I know you were pretty conservative some years ago.

I never really labeled myself to any specific political ideology, I usually look at stuff issue by issue. Now I ask myself the question "Does this make things better or worse overall?" about any kind of political question.

As a teacher I probably approach the topic of Education much differently than any other issue. I see the Common Core State Standards as being a good thing and it just really annoys me when people talk about them when they have no idea what they are. Like Trump said he would get rid of them, that is literally something he can't do.

Like legit I cannot possibly get a seventh grader on level if he is still on 3rd grade standards while everyone else is all over the place

It might work in Missouri but not in NYC

The goal would be to have all students start with the same standards from k to 12 in math. That way they are never significantly behind. However there will always be issues of students falling behind or special ed students not being on grade level no matter which set of standards is being used.

Even though I have been super negative about my dating life there are basically two girls I have been talking to.
