I agree with basically everything FD is saying here about Ulti. He is basically the only person on B8 I have on ignore, and the only reason for it is because I can't stand his antics in the Hearthstone thread.

I do have him friended on bnet and once in a while we talk in-game. He's much easier to interact with there. But on the forum threads, all Ulti wants to do is whine about the RNG and call attention to himself. Regardless, he's definitely not some kind of authority that this article writer should bill as one. I've never made legend, but that's because I don't play enough to get there and didn't pay someone to get there for me.

yeah, was gonna say, there's so real major difficulty spikes in the game except maybe in the beginning. The Corvega plant was tough the first time I got there. But eventually you pick up enough gear and perks that the only place that threatens to scare you is the Glowing Sea, because the enemies scale to your level there better.

No disagreement here. That's the one part of this that doesn't sit right with me.

Aside from being forced to think about the crimes against humanity taking place in China, of course. It's hard for anything to sit right about that.

I don't think anyone is disputing that Blizzard is allowed to do what they're doing.

It doesn't make it any less cowardly, despicable, and chilling.

Let's pretend for a second that Blizzard is not a corporation, but rather than a single business owner who oversees everything and has the moral consciousness to make a stand for his beliefs. If there are awful enough things in China for that guy to even begin to consider damaging his financial interests in the name of "doing what is right," do you think that this event on its own would be enough of a catalyst to spur him into action? If you were that guy, responsible for literally billions of dollars, and have the economic and social foothold in China that you do, would you allow it to be compromised by one player's brief moment of hijacking your company's interests?

Even the most progressive, freedom-fighting business owners isn't going to make that call. They'll let it be a strike against China that they'll remember for later. They'll also remember how much pushback the company receives for what looks like bootlicking to some simply for not wanting to get caught in the middle. But the owner's not going to allow what happened on his watch. It is, in its own way, damaging to the company, even without considering the catastrophic damage that being banned by the PRC would do.

That's if one guy had to make the decision. A board would never. So please take your moral outrage elsewhere. Yes, China is awful. Yes, "something" should be done. But if you're going to attack Blizzard because they were shoved into a situation where it was made blatantly obvious that they don't want to make waves at this time, then you have to attack every other company that does business in China...which is basically every company that isn't some Mom-and-Pop operation. The only reason you're picking on just Blizzard is because an individual tried to make his little bit of "something" happen at their expense, and they made it very clear to him that it's coming at their expense.

Bethesda received a lot of pushback over Fallout 4's world design. Many of their quests and events seem to fall under the category of someone at the studio going, "Hey wouldn't it be cool if we...?" and then they shoved it into the game without considering it further.

The ultimate in this is a ruined refrigerator you find on the roadside with someone screaming inside. You open it up and there's a ghoul kid inside who's been trapped in there since the days the bombs dropped. It's ridiculous, over the top, and completely lore-breaking. (There's a related quest I'm not describing so as not to have to use spoiler tags, but trust me, it's more than just what I'm describing.)

I mostly don't mind. I turn a blind eye to the major worldbuilding details and just play the game. I'm pretty sure the developers at Bethesda do, too. But it also becomes pointedly obvious that Bethesda's writing team is not especially well-staffed. (It's 12 people in the credits, but those people are doing everything from constructing dialogue trees for every random NPC to building terminal text to working with the level designers to decide what each of the hundreds of locations look like.)

They're a multi-national company. How exactly did you expect them to respond? They can't allow people to hijack their events, particularly for political movements. Look at how the NFL protests went. This guy is no Colin Kaepernick, and Blizzard is trying to remove this problem before he somehow becomes one.

Do I like what happened? No. Do I think what Blizzard did was unreasonable or unfair? No, other than that the casters shouldn't have been caught in the crossfire.

I'm not sure about the middle or the bottom, but if I had to blend the two casts, the top three for me are all from the original. I'm not sure how far I'd actually have to go down the line before I picked someone from DR2. I guess I'm appreciating Nagito a little more after reading this playthrough topic, but I absolutely loathed him during my own sessions. Chiaki is...okay at best? And she's probably who I would have put at the head of the class. Based on design, I really liked Peko, but she went out in a really bizarre fashion with sudden backstory I didn't care for. There was simply nobody from DR2 that I wanted to root for.

So they're re-added to standard, but only temporarily. That makes a lot more sense. I looked at that list and said there was no way they're simply bringing these cards back to standard.

Now the question becomes which classes are the biggest winners by these reintroductions. I kind of wonder if this wasn't the time to make these choices. There will be another set before rotation, and this particular meta is pretty robust and diverse. It didn't need a shot in the arm like so many in the past have. If nothing else, I would have saved it for the first set of next year, when the card pool is small and relatively weak.

I actually liked her at first, and she gradually went downhill, but I never actually hated her so much as just didn't find anything redeeming about her. That's still better than most of DR2's cast, though. (You and I also disagree about the quality of the DR2 cast by a considerable margin.)

Disagree with this assertion in the SM range and various other ranges. Unless your server is low pop or something.

I'm sure it's different for Horde, but SM is a chore to reach. SM is an instance worth doing once, but I wouldn't make the flight up to Southshore and then the run from there into the corner of Tirisfal repeatedly. The set-up time alone counteracts whatever advantage it might have.

And despite SM's popularity, unless you're a tank, getting a group basically requires you to sit in a major city, spamming chat or looking for someone else who is. So that's even more downtime. Call me impatient, but I have no desire to relive playing EverQuest. When I'm in WoW, I want to actually be doing something. Not waiting or preparing or hoping for something. While leveling, anyway.

If you're smart, leveling in the field is still faster than instance running. Mostly because it has no reliance on other people, who are a variable commodity both in terms of quality and availability. I'd rather just quest-grind, knowing exactly what I'll be doing at any time and sticking to my gameplan.

The two reasons to run instances are gear and social interaction. I figure the first doesn't even matter that much until you get to Maraudon and Temple because you'll find better stuff while leveling anyway.
