MATCH 1

Under My Control really is a cool song. Probably the song that could make a match like this the closest. Still, though, Gaur Plains is also a fantastic song from the Xenoblade Chronicles setlist, so it's a very easy decision here.

MATCH 2

Earthen Labyrinth is a neat song, but I don't care too much for parts like 0:00-0:08. Feels a bit circus-y and I guess that doesn't interest me all that much. The rest of it is pretty cool though!

The key we've lost is a really hype song that I enjoy a lot. Really nice melody that feels very climactic. The only thing I don't really care for are the glitchy parts in the vocals towards the end. Another easy decision.

First match is super close, but I'm feeling more the first song today. Getting some Smash 64 vibes from this.

Earthen Labyrinth sounds like some weird cross between Old School RuneScape and Secret of Mana music. Which is a good thing! As much as I've been impressed by some of the other XBCX tracks, this one just isn't doing it for me.

I love both songs in the first match quite a fair bit, though for quite unrelated reasons obviously. Gaur Plains has always been easily one of my favourites of the Xenoblade OST that keeps it so high up for me. It's just constantly good. But. UMC though. There's just a lot in this that I just really, really like. And even the parts that aren't I'm just like "damn, it's really cool that they made a song like this and made this part still work". Well. I already alluded to this fact already when I made it clear that I would've and honestly really should've still supported the triple deluxe setlist if not for the fact that I simply liked this one more. I don't even really think that much about the soundtrack of this game despite it being maybe my favourite kirby game, but get to songs like this and I'm just like "ah, damn, yes. cool".

jerpiguh. i'm gonna give a reverse take to lem and say that i liked the opening parts of the song (though more like, the first 30ish seconds, maybe as far as first 35) the most, because.... well, they're definitely the ones that reminded me of mitsuda the most. Having said that, even though I'm not as big on the rest of it, it's about on par with the unapologetically Sawano xbx theme here (maybe slightly lower, but close enough) to me, so... Guess I'm still going with it.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land - Under My Control: 8.5. Whoa, this is great! Intense and menacing.

Xenoblade Chronicles - Gaur Plains: 5.5. This song has always been "okay" to me. Like, I won't turn it off when it comes on, but I'd never go out of my way to listen to it.

Tangledeep - Earthen Labyrinth -I'm not particularly impressed with the composition of either one....it has a few awkward notes, but this one does a good job with atmosphere, and the very beginning reminds of Uematsu.

Snubs match shockingly the better of the matches today. While both in the main match are good, both are not really my favourites of their particular games by any means lol. UMC has a lot more diversity and, well, Kirby music is just sorta generally my thing so I think I enjoyed the energy just a bit more. (Still a bit bugged by just *how much* better RTDL is doing compared to TDX. Is it just luck, or?)

Tangledeep's got a bit lacking in terms of composition for me tbh, but that may just be from it being older, I must say for what it is it's pretty brilliant though, the melody is p much perfect for me. The key we've lost is super unique and hits some really great tones, and then when the vocals pick up at the end it really sells it for me. Again great match and sad to see either go but the show must go on
