Did you know you can avoid the top one completely? Just have a monster bump into you as you hit the square.

You can also use the "spell" spell to make them easy. IIRC all the projectile throwing monsters turn into slimes and you can run through. Maybe it only works for one screen.

I dunno, it never was a real problem for me.

This game gets plenty hard and frustrating, but it's nothing like a "bullet hell." It's just a lot of hard enemies coming to kill you.

Now Contra, that is very much a bullet hell in platformer form.

Someone else should take up the mantle. I don't think it necessarily has to be Shuri though. I like the character but I don't think becoming BP is a good fit, especially with the current actress. She's charming and fun to watch but she doesn't really have a warrior type energy. Have her keep taking the tech stuff to new levels, maybe have her be queen. First of all, if you were a kid in the 80s, pre Nintendo you just accepted that home video games were vastly inferior to arcades. That was just the trade-off for being able to play as much as you wanted in the comfort of your home without putting in quarters.

Unless you were deep into computer gaming, which had a lot of niche titles that arcades didn't do. But those were mostly for teens and adults, and were a small percentage of the overall population. For the rest of us, games were just this thing we'd do casually for short periods. I had one friend who was into Atari 2600 games like me, but we rarely spent more than a few hours playing before we got bored.

But then when the NES did come out, finally there were mainstream games that were doing things arcades couldn't, and doing them well. If you were going from the Atari 2600 to that, it was absolutely mind-blowing. The Legend of Zelda changed the way I looked at games forever. Then came Mario 3, Castlevania, Mega Man, and countless others. I had always liked games, but the NES taught me to love them. Eventually I got into lots of other different games, especially PC. But Nintendo was what opened the door for me.

The live action movies have a lot of interesting stuff. I don't know how much of it is good but there's some fascinating stuff from the 70s and before. Knowing what his career is like now it's crazy seeing the Kurt Russell films from that era, lol. There are also some genuinely great ones mixed in there.

I'm not saying that's enough to make a year subscription worth the money, but I think that compared with the Mandalorian is certainly worth signing up for one month at least.

I said mid 2000s because the 2008 election was the first time he seriously tarnished his own legacy. I'm sure there were other people critical of the things you mentioned in the early 2000s but in the post 9/11 landscape that didn't get a lot of national attention.

Cheney is evil, but I don't think even he is evil enough to murder thousands of Americans just to start a war he and his cronies could make some money off of. Especially when there are much easier and more effective ways to do it.

The theory that he and others in the administration knew that some kind of a terrorist attack was coming but didn't realize how horrible it would be, and planned to use it to justify an Iraq invasion is more plausible. I can definitely see him being shocked but immediately rationalizing it and deciding they needed to suck it up and go through with the plan.

The thing is, though, just because someone WOULD do something doesn't automatically mean that they DID. I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be any leakers or whistleblowers or paper trail. It's much more likely that they just hadn't prioritized anti-terror measures, and our country was already vulnerable due to a lack of coordination between departments. They were genuinely taken surprise by the attacks but just cynically used the situation to their own advantage soon after.

I have seen no reason to doubt that this is the most likely scenario.
