Mortal Kombat (SNES)

Maybe it was because I was playing the SNES version but this game is ROUGH. The controls are janky as hell. Even on the easiest difficulty it still felt like the AI cheats you. And the worst of it are the 3 Endurance Fights where you have to fight two characters back-to-back in a single round, and you still have to win 2 rounds to proceed.

I think I'd recommend the arcade version for anyone wanting to play this unless they're an SNES aficionado like me or they want to try it on Sega Genesis. That said, I wouldn't say this game stacks up well to other fighting games on SNES, but thankfully the sequels seem a lot more well liked.

I only login during the Advent Calendar in December and that's it.

So my pets are only fed for 1 month in the entire year.

I can say this, the game is already on a decline revenue wise. It's still making millions, but it's like 2 million instead of 5 or 8 million from before.

Now this could be normal as the first months pass by, and these games tend to be heavily front-loaded, but Crunchyroll has been known to axe games when the revenue really starts dipping and sometimes on short notice.

The one possible saving grace is that this game is handled by A Plus instead of Crunchyroll outside of the US, but their side of the game is only making a fraction of what it makes through Crunchy.

Given the awful reputation the game has since the start, I wouldn't be that surprised if the game only lasts like a year in the end. I guess we'll see in the upcoming months if keeps bleeding in revenue or if it ever stabilizes.

I can't tell if those topics naturally purged but there are none on this board at this moment.

So I wonder if GameFAQs got the DMCA notices as well.

Street Fighter V (PS4)

I'm writing this off as "beat" with clearing the Character Stories of the Base Roster & Wave 1 DLC (and a few other DLC characters that I felt like doing), as well as finishing the General Story.

The General Story was pretty underwhelming. I would say that the Character Stories were a lot more interesting story-wise. One of the annoying things about fights in the general story, is that it isn't always obvious who you'll be playing as. Like for example, there will be a scene that focuses on Cammy, and then Vega appears to interrupt whatever is going on. Then it'll cut to a fight between these two and suddenly you're playing as Vega fighting Cammy. You won't really know who you're playing as unless you take a look at the health bars and see which one has "You" on it.

Still, with fighting games, how good a game is doesn't really depend on the story, since gameplay to them are way more important. So I'm playing this game after it got all of its updates, and it's a very complete game in the end. I do know about the game's very rocky launch, which didn't even have the arcade mode ready, which I will say is well made in this game, with you being able to go through the sequences of the past games.

I actually had fun with the fighting itself and won a few matches online. I think I like using Rashid the most, so I'm looking forward to his inclusion as DLC in Street Fighter 6, which is set to be sometime this summer.

So how have you guys' luck been with the REAL Evil Ryu?

Must be Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier since he's just that much of a fan Battle Royales and is super sad it shutdown early this year.

He's also looking at ways to free Yuji Naka from prison.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late (PS3)

I cleared arcade 4 times already, I think that's good enough to call it beat. I mean I've posted here calling fighting games beat after only 1 arcade clear.

This game is pretty fun. Online is outright dead since it's the first version that was on consoles, but I was able to get 2 online matches in (and you need to play 1 ranked match for a trophy) and I won both of them, so while I may be bad at fighting games, I can at least win matches.....if my opponents don't know how to deal with someone rushing them down or are rushing me down themselves.

Speaking of figures, there's a Memorial Day sale currently going on the official Good Smile US Shop, and some Fire Emblem figures are on sale for it.

Fair warning, the shipping cost is ridiculous. To the point where on many of the relatively cheaper figures, it offsets a lot of the savings. And if you live in Canada, it's like not even a sale at all.

I got Dante in 3 multi-pulls, which is probably good luck in of itself even if 1 copy can't do much.

At least we know that if you're not trying to build Akuma, you can hoard special summon tickets for future limiteds, except that they're really costly on your diamonds.

By caring way more about their deaths because they didn't have ten billion death flags around them from the start? Because they're little kids and an old man dying out of revenge hits less hard than two children sacrificing their lives so adults may live? Because you can actually try to depetrify them with a gold needle and the game accounts for that and says 'no, they're too far gone'? There's a lot of reasons their death scene hits harder than Tellah's and Cid's (which I'd also argue hits harder than Tellah's, fwiw, if only because you've known him for longer by the time he disappears and he's a more enjoyable character to begin with). Tellah's death isn't even the meanest one in his own game at all, even if it's the one that sticks.

And then you go on about your own view, which is not what the general players think, and even admit at the end that Tellah's still is the one that people remember out of FFIV.

You're free to have your own personal takes but don't go conflating it with what the community thinks.

Yes, the scenes with the twins, Cid, and Yang are all shocker moments, but the impact is lessened when they all live in the end. I doubt people are gonna immediately think about the "sacrifices" they made when they think about the character. Much like in the real world where people aren't quick to remember the sacrifices you made in life as long as you're alive.
