The find was made at the site of a mass grave along with other human remains, according to media reports. "When it was unearthed, all of the archaeologists and staff members were shocked. Why? Because the mother was looking down at the baby in her hands," Chu Whei-lee, a curator at Taiwan's National Museum of Natural Science, told Reuters. A total of 48 sets of human remains were uncovered at the Taichung area site, which is believed to be the earliest sign thus far of human activity in central Taiwan. The mother cradling her child was the stand-out find. Archaeologists have not yet given an explanation as to how she and her baby died. The scientists have unearthed five skeletons of children since beginning the excavation in May 2014. The project took around a year to complete, with carbon dating being used to confirm the age of the remains. The find comes only months after a construction team located human remains in a residential area. Workers building an underground sewer line in Hualien, Taiwan, found a complete skeleton and some pieces of pottery in January 2016. After inspection, it was suggested that the skeleton could be that of a young adult, but the gender could not immediately be determined, reports the Taipei Times. A canine tooth and some finger bones were sent to a lab in Florida for tests to determine the skeleton's age. Lin Hsiu-man, who works as a researcher at the National Museum of Prehistory, told the Taipei Times that the pottery shards matched the style of pieces found among people of the Jinpu Culture, which existed between 1,500 and 400 years ago. In January 2015, researchers reported the discovery of a much older human jawbone off the Taiwanese coast. The find indicated that a previously unknown type of human species may have lived in the region prior to the arrival of homo sapiens around 40,000 years ago, according to Live Science. Studies of the jaw suggest it belonged to a human who could have lived at any time between 10,000 and 190,000 years ago. Stephen Mader, 27, used his military training to try and de-escalate the situation when he encountered visibly distraught RJ Williams, 23. Williams was shot dead by another officer who arrived at the scene later on. That officer was cleared of any wrongdoing. Mader was responding to a domestic violence call on May 6, 2016, in West Virginia and he asked Williams to show his hands. When he did it became clear that he had a gun and Williams told him to drop it. Williams refused and he told the police officer to shoot him, according to the American Civil Liberties Union. They said: Rather than shoot, Mader returned to his military training and attempted to de-escalate the situation. He softened his voice, looked Williams in the eye and said: Im not going to shoot you, brother. Im not going to shoot you. While Mader was negotiating with Williams, two other officers arrived on the scene. Williams raised his gun and one of the newly-arrived officers fired four shots, killing him, the ACLU said. The gun turned out to be unloaded. City officials said Mader froze on the scene and was being fired for that reason. All incidents reported to police are counted in rape statistics prior to the investigation which is not true in the US and the rest or Europe. And multiple rapes of the same victim are counted individually, which is not true in the US and Europe. So for example if one person was accused of raping a girl 12 times, that would be counted statistically as 12 rape cases in Sweden but only one in the US or France. And it would still be counted even if the police investigated and found out it never occured. To be fair to the UK police, I actually looked into when these stories were breaking a year or so again and these claims are mostly bullshit and exaggerated. A lot of the people being "investigated for online hate speech" are actually being investigated for links to radical groups or in connection with violent crimes. And frequently net results or prevent crimes. It's not that people are being questioned for calling workmates poopyhead on facebook. They're being questioned for saying they're going to set fire to a church or at least supporting people who are. A lot of people are trying very hard to downplay that and make it seem like they are being much more unreasonable than they really are. Go to pretty much any big name UK politian or figure's social media and you'll find plenty of untouched aggressive insults and hate that confirm this. Justice Secretary David Gauke said the Government will consider plans during a television interview today. The comments come after Katie Price gave evidence to a Commons committee on the issue after launching a campaign for tougher penalties for social media abuse. Asked about Ms Prices campaign, Mr Gauke told ITVs Peston On Sunday: I think we have to consider that. I mean what we see is some appalling behaviour on social media. Ms Price told the Commons Petitions Committee last week that a line should be drawn between banter and criminal abuse but the law had failed to keep up with the changing use of technology. Her 15-year-old son Harvey who is partially blind, autistic and has Prader-Willi syndrome was targeted on Twitter last year by an unnamed 19-year-old who received a caution from Sussex Police. But Ms Price told MPs that police had been powerless to act in other cases. The TV personality also wants to see the creation of a register of offenders. It's a general rule of thumb in TV shows, especially cartoons that female characters who are not love-interests get shafted. Reminds me of that joke in I think it's Family Guy where someone asks who Lois' friends are and she replies by asking him who Marge Simpsons friends are and who Sully's friends are. Videl is only there to be a conquest for Gohan, so her mother is irrelevant.
