It is not racist to prefer people of one skin color as attractive or unattractive so long as you are saying that's your personal preference and not acting like people of said skin color are universally attractive/unattractive because of said skin color. This is especially true if you can find someone attractive with said skin tone you deem 'unattractive' because of other features/facets about them that you DO find attractive (like personality).

Before the main driving force was the Space Race. It wasn't just about furthering humanity, it was about a DEMOCRACY, CAPITALIST, nation furthering humanity instead of a filthy commie. As a result America was willing to throw a bunch of funding behind the missions. But now not only is the U.S.S.R. gone but there isn't much reason to soak the huge cost as a result. Trump wanted to get us back to the moon and it's unclear if Biden will follow through, but the flaw wasn't technology, it was money. Tech may be better but it doesn't really matter. A moon base would be stupidly expensive and, while tech has improved and it's not impossible, it's also just so expensive as to not be worth it.

Its easy for it to look like its all presentation when youre missing out on the crucial component of actually eating the food lol. Ive genuinely never had some of the taste, texture, temperature, etc. combos I experienced here, so the food itself is unique in a way. But again, I get its not for everyone. Especially if youre only thinking of meals in terms of sustenance and not any greater experience.

Not only do these places stay in business, I had to make my reservations two months in advance right when spots opened up to ensure I got us a spot in the restaurant. Its also probably worth noting that many chefs do different levels of dining at different restaurants. There is one by the same chef called Petite Crenn which, while still pricey, is much more reasonable for the average diner on a special night.

I am thinking of them as more than sustinence and whatnot. I'm also thinking that I'd much rather drop money to get a burger unironically called 'Heart Attack on Titan' than spend it on what looks to be a single oyster.

With the wine pairing, for the both of us, I paid about ~$1,300. It would have been closer to $900 without the wine. They also had a more expensive wine pairing that could have pushed it closer to $2k or beyond, but I dont know enough about wine to want to spend that much. As it is, it was already a lot of wine and we didnt finish it all. They also had a non-alcoholic craft beverage pairing for a little less than half the wine pairing and I think a better option would have been to have had one of us get that, one of us get the wine, but share it all.

I seriously can't understand how these places manage to have customers. For $2,000 I could have like half a years worth of food from a fast food place and you could have blown that on a single meal. If I'm paying $2,000 for a meal I want them to find a way to stuff a whole hog inside of me or at the very least I better be eating something like the remains of one of the last frozen mammoths ever discovered. Not a meal that looks like the chef put a skinned grape in a witches hat and called it a course (not picking on that meal in particular, just saying that this seems to be far more presentation than anything else).

The information would be the number of each type and if any were separated. The reader can conclude how many cookies you have. If it's left up to interpretation it's not fact based.

Would it be? Some people would say an oreo is one cookie even if the waifers were separated and others would say the separated waifers constitute their own cookie. The point I'm trying to convey, however, is that I can be factually accurate and present all the evidence and still be lying because of how I presented it or what aspects I chose to focus on.

As a certain person said 'there's three types of lies. Lies, damned lies, and statistics'.

That's beside the point of the question being asked. This doesn't show how the information itself is being manipulated. It does demonstrate how people can reach bizarre conclusions.

Who decided what constituted 'healthy' and 'unhealthy' in that situation? Or that that selection of cookies was representative of cookies on the whole in either direction? Even if I brought those cookies with me and ate nothing else for lunch, who is to say I ate all 30 and didn't just eat the 10 oatmeal cookies? Or that I am trying to eat healthy/should eat healthy? Maybe I brought all those cookies to share with friends or hand out to the hungry after school/work/whatever and even an unhealthy cookie > starvation.

It's not just bizzare conclusions. It's being able to take a set of info and manipulate it to say whatever you want. It's important to remember that you can be telling the truth about something AND lying because what you said, while factually true, has been manipulated to support your desired statement.

Wikipedia does mention it but only to refute it and make Trump look like a sore loser. The democrats claimed something similar about Trump throughout his administration despite nothing ever being proven. Yet Trumps Wikipedia article supports the claim against him.

That would be a solid example of bias then. Since the unproven claim against Biden gets dismissed as false while the unproven claim against Trump gets accepted as true (despite not having been proven). I am keeping my hands clean of that though as my focus here is on how something can be both true and a lie at the same time and wikipedia can be biased by misrepresenting facts and statistics.

While it should contain information from the FES about things such as their core beliefs, ideas, and the like when it comes to the actual controversy humanity has believed the world was round for centuries going all the way back to the ancient greeks and we even see references in the Bible to things like 'the sphere of the Earth' and much of modern life (like GPS) depends on it. Flat Earth isn't some controversial viewpoint but, rather, the intellectual equivalent of saying it's not germs/viruses/etc causing illnesses but devils and demons infesting you and the only cure is bloodletting, leechs, and prayer.

So, I'm confused. Did they allow free reign to pick or was there a pre-set list?

Cause if they had a pre-set list than Hitler shouldn't have been on there in the first place and the fault is all the teachers.

But if the list wasn't pre-set the teacher should have at least put a few people down who would be 'unacceptable'. Something like 'no living people, people who committed crimes against humanity, or fictional leaders' as well as asked each student to submit at least a project proposal first. Even something as similar as 'think of who you might want then come to me for approval' would have stopped this before it even began.

I don't think the girl should be punished though. As for the parents, I don't believe the government has the right to investigate/arrest someone just because they believe disgusting things. If they did can we PLEASE add flat-earthers/anti-vaxxers to the list? Not to mention that, considering the internet, she could have easily found a bunch of these views online if she wasn't careful (and, since she's 10...)

Isn't wikipedia suppose to be fact based? In which case perspective shouldn't matter. Provide all the information and let people form their own opinion.

Well, I think the issue is that wikipedia is including facts, articles, and whatnot that support liberal positions but not ones that support conservative positions. Hence the problem. Especially if they're not even acknowledging the conservative opinions or presenting them in a way disingenuous way. Please note, I haven't read anything regarding this, just offering up an interpretation of what he might be saying.

Also, just because something is 'fact' doesn't mean it can't be manipulated. Let's say I have 10 chocolate chip, 10 sandwich (like oreos), and 10 oatmeal raisin baked confectionary treats. How many cookies do I have? I could say 30 which is what a straight-forwards count would give me, but I could also separate out the sandwich cookies into their individual waifers to say I have 40. I could say I have 20 chocolate cookies and 10 non-chocolate cookies (which is true but misrepresents that the chocolate-chip and sandwich are alike only in that they have chocolate). I could argue that 2/3rds of cookies are unhealthy and the final 3rd is only arguably healthy. I could say the chocolate and oatmeal ones are 'similar' because they're matching in color/shape/generalish texture and the oreos are waifer (ignoring one is chocolate chip and the other is made of oatmeal and raisins). I could say someone hates vanilla waifer because they didn't select it to be one of those 30. This may be true or may be completely untrue (maybe I already ate all the vanilla waifers).

Like, with Biden, I could say 'Biden's presidency was dogged by allegations of voter fraud that he was never able to resolve leading many to question the legitimacy of his win' or I could say 'fringe conspiracy theorists constantly peddled theories claiming he had won the election illegitimately but they never gained widespread acceptance'. Both would be FACTUALLY true (assuming the allegations of fraud continue through his election at least) but the first presented it in a manner where everyone is convinced he cheated but could never actually prove it definitively while the second frames it like he was 100% legitimate and it was only fringe theorists trying to gain attention who kept saying those things.

The funny thing is that, while there certainly ARE examples of CA happening, 95% of it it's either some dumb company hawking a cheap product for a quick buck or the entertainment industry doing something similar for the same reason. While maybe it's happened I can't think of a time where I've seen something CA something and not be one of those two things.

There's a key difference. Stim checks apply regardless of your employment. Unemployment only kicks in if you're not working. That difference is huge since it means that, if you earn more from unemployment than from work, you have no motivation to work.

What I got from that assessment is that he's using British as a synonym for white. What is "British person" supposed to mean. Makes sense TC would agree though. As far I know it was popularised by British Pakistani/Indian people so why would it be viewed as racist. Actually, the point is that reality is more complicated than people who follow CA believe. Cultures mix, intermingle, and the like. Goods get transferred between them. Pizza couldn't exist if you only used foods found in Italy because you need tomatoes which come from the Americas. Likewise potatoes wouldn't be in 'authentic' Irish cooking because they too come from the Americas. Native Americans wouldn't have horses since they were extinct until they were re-introduced by the Europeans. Cultures develop similar, even identical, ideas independent of each other. They take things and put their own unique spin on them (just look at Halloween and Christmas). Even among ethnic groups a Spanish person is extremely different from a Frenchman who is different from a British person who is different from a Russian.

It's why CA's doomed to fail in it's current state. Even if it could work the ideas it espouses are not applied evenly and across all cultures. It relies on a distinctly AMERICAN world view in order to even function and an assumption that the rest of the world is similar/identical TO America. Even then it requires an EXTREMELY specific viewpoint about America and how it handles culture to be viable. The moment that viewpoint is shifted, even slightly, every single argument and everything it could offer becomes simply invalid.

As best as I've understood it...

The idea is that you are taking something from a culture that is important to said culture and then using/exploiting it without regard to said culture and treating it, effectively, as your own idea or to be 'exotic' or whatever. This can apply to a multitude of things with food and hairstyles being the most commonly discussed. So having a white person making and selling chinese food would be 'cultural appropriation' because you are exploiting an 'exotic' food for profit.

There's a whole HOST of problems with this idea. For one it only ever seems to go one way. You can have white people exploiting others cultures but you never seem to hear about, say, an african-american exploiting chinese culture. And you'll usually see all white people getting treated as culturally similar/identical and won't ever seem to ever be exploited by other ethnic groups for identical reasons. Nevermind cultures that actively export/invite others to partake (like Japanese culture). Or cultures that developed similar ideas independently (like hairstyles).

In reality it's best to think of it as a bunch of angry twitter mobs attacking people because of their skin color. Maybe the idea of cultural appropriation could have some traction if applied evenly to all cultures; but in reality it's a bunch of dumb twitter people who think a British person making Tiki Masala is racist (it's origins are unclear with it having originated in Britain as one possibility).

The walk-in cooler/freezer at Walgreens was the best. It was cold, dark, and quite with no customers bothering me. I loved being assigned to restock that place because it meant for the next hour or so (depending on product and the like) I was basically free to relax and work alone. I didn't goof off or anything like that; but I won't deny I kept looking for things to restock to draw it out as long as possible.

Do I think Biden is to blame for the worker shortage? He's offering so much from unemployment that many people are refusing to return to work. So yes.

Do I think that a huge part of the problem is that the wealthy were treating the poor and middle classes like serfs and paying garbage wages? Yes.

We need to get people back to work; but we also need to do away with the corrupt system that was in place before.

I think the problem is there is too much mature content but not enough maturity about the content. Like, we'll have games with gratuitous sex scenes, nudity, and the like but it's treated like a teen power fantasy and we almost never see, say, a couple just happily hugging and enjoying each others presence unless it's a side couple. The main character has to have at least two possible love interests if not more and it goes straight from conversations to the bedroom.

One of the 'best' romances I've seen is DA:O's Morrigan romance because, if done right, she basically starts off as a wild and care-free teen girl who does whatever feels good and helps her only to get a cold slap of reality when she finds out someone actually CARES about her and loves her. It causes her to distance herself and stop engaging in bedtime activities and, if you follow through the story, she eventually goes from thinking kids are the worst thing around to having one to save her lovers life to loving her son.

While JRPG's are often better about romance than WRPG's they still have lots of problems and it's only marginally better (in that they develop a relationship and have it play out over the entire game instead of a few conversations). They still usually don't show the couple being actually... together... outside of maybe a scene at the end unless their romance is a core aspect of the game (and JRPG's tend to be more narrative-focused than WRPG's). Even then it's usually 'what would you do to make your beloved happy' instead of, say, just a tender moment where you and your characters lover cuddle up on a hillside to watch the fireworks.

I probably wouldn't mind wearing or not wearing a mask in public so much if there weren't people going hysterical on both sides over the issue.

Like, on the one side you have people who think wearing a mask means the government is tracking them with chips and trying to strip away their freedoms.

On the other you have people who break out in a fit of hysteria and act like you're basically a bioterrorist if you don't wear it.

Both are extremely annoying especially if the people in the latter group let people who do things like stick their nose out over the mask go scot-free. I've not no problem wearing a mask but getting hysterical at me if I don't and acting like a raging fanatic won't make me wear it.

In other words: "Sir/Madame. Please wear your mask" vs. "WEAR YOUR MASK! DO YOU WANT US ALL TO DIE YOU RIGHT-WING *******?!" One gets me wearing my mask. The other makes me want to just not visit your store or whatever.

No; but I do see where it's coming from. Namely a mindset where, if you can, you SHOULD. So if you CAN get a girl but don't, and are attractive, then it's not because 'you're waiting for the right woman' or something but because you're not interested in girls. After all, with the multitude of women who 'want' you how could you 'not find the right one'? Nevermind that a lot of women who care only about physical appearance are shallow people.

Yea. They arguably had nothing to do with Japan's surrender either. Remember, prior to the bombs being dropped Japan was staring down America and was NOT expecting to win. At best they were hoping for a stalemate and peace. They weren't expecting to lose just cities but entire islands to resist America.

The problem was Russia. Not only was Russia finally bringing it's military muscle down on Japan; Japan very swiftly realized that the Soviets wouldn't look too kindly on an Emperor considering what they did to their Czar. So they sued for peace with America mainly because it was hoping the Americans wouldn't be as harsh and western capitalism was infinitely more appealing to them than Soviet communism. The timing with the bombs was just so convenient since Japan could tell its citizens that they had no chance against American superweapons and America, well, used a massive explosion to beat its enemy (which speaks to every American on a primal level).

In America we have a party advocate for freedom by shouting down anyone who doesn't adhire to an impossible moral standard and a party advocating for hate by fighting for freedom of speech. This may make one party sound better than the other but in reality they both are pretty terrible and will result in nightmarish dictatorships and the only hope American's have is to make them fight each other so much that they can never get anything done. Despite that we consider this to be the best form of government and believe the entire world should be engaged in massive infighting in all its governments. One portion of our population believes in global warming and that we should all become vegans and the other portion believes it's a lie despite several years of record-setting heatwaves but thinks you should be able to eat a hamburger without being guilted six different ways about it. Half the country wants to murder the other half but which half that is changes regularly and based upon who you talk to. One group despises traditional marriage yet believes LGBT people should be allowed to have it while another reveres it yet then proceeds to steer sharply towards things like marrying their sister. Half the country doesn't know history and things the Civil War was about freeing the slaves while the other half doesn't know history and thinks it wasn't and any historians who actually know the answer get shoved aside. Despite being the fourth largest country by area and third most populated country only four cities (LA, New York, Chicago, and either Portland or Washington depending on the month) ever seem to actually matter. They basically control the vote in their states. Then they complain states like Montana have too much voting power. We have people who own enough guns to outfit entire platoons handily and more guns per person than some nations in the middle of wars. Despite this we act shocked every time there is a shooting. We have employers who can hire and fire people at will then act confused as to why employee morale is so low. You need to go to college to get a career but if you go to college you'll almost certainly spend your whole career in debt unless you major in economics or law. We talk about how terrible education is yet haven't changed how schools function since the 50's and pay teachers garbage while ignoring core problems. Our current generation gets more education from indian guys on Youtube and Assassin's Creed games than school and CGP Grey probably has helped more people graduate than any program.

Despite this we're the only nation that's been to the moon, will likely be one of if not the first nation on Mars, and will somehow keep on the cutting edge of technology. SOMEHOW.

America feels like, ever since the Cold War ended, it self-destructed and China's trying to be the rival America needs but America's just like 'it's not you. It's me.'

Complaining that you can't breathe through a thin piece of cloth that you wear for about 3 minutes to pick up smokes isn't very manly imo.

Neither is being triggered by rainbow or any movie with a black person in it.

Honestly, I suspect that, for at least some of them, it's less about the mask and more about power/control. I.E. they're not going to let some employee tell them what to do no matter what the employee tells them to do and they're not going to follow the rules/laws if they don't want to. It just so happens that this puts them on the conservative side in an argument that both shouldn't exist and shouldn't have become political in the first place.

I mean, think about it, how many times have you seen a Karen go off on an employee who was just trying to help them but not in the exact way they wanted to be helped? Or ignore clear rules, signs, etc. effectively because they can? The sort of person who takes up multiple spaces or parks in handicapped spaces or w/e because they feel entitled to do so?

Men who go out of their way to tell people they are feminists rather than letting their actions speak for them, should be avoided at all costs.

Most of them seem to end up cheating on their wives or some other shady shit.

Not at all. I loved the original and thought it set the stage for amazing sequels, I just didn't like what they came out with. And those fighting scenes were just too drawn out, IMO.

Honestly, would have preferred more fight scenes compared to the lame philosophizing they tried to pull in the end.

Reloaded was okay and Animatrix was great. Revolutions... was going good until the very end when it all just completely collapsed.

Honestly, liberal men creep me out. Especially the ones that claim to be 'female/feminist/whatever allies'. It feels... really artificial? It's the only way I can describe it. Like they're proclaiming those virtues to cover up the fact that they're also the kind of guy who would beat their wife or force a woman against her will or something. I'm sure there's plenty who are good people but it also feels like it's only a matter of time before they say/do... something... that proves them blatant liars/hypocrites or like they're, I dunno, championing gay rights because they also are the ones who secretly act like hyper-racists behind the scenes and they think it evens out somehow?

This is kinda why the left-right paradigm is silly. It's not a true monolith, let alone across all issues. Does anybody honestly believe that you're not going to have conservatives seeing this movie? Even some of the people complaining about it might wind up watching it. Particularly because these aren't movies people watch for the story. Either you're going to watch people get chased around and killed, or you don't like that kind of stuff and you're not watching it.

And honestly, a lot of the people who support this movie's message ("Ha ha, take that, conservatives!") aren't going to watch it, just like a lot of people who don't like the message ("Just more liberal Hollywood propaganda!") aren't going to see it. Maybe some of the people who don't like the message might have otherwise watched it, but most people aren't going to bother because these movies are kinda niche. Although they're well-known, none of the movies broke $80m at the box office.

Honestly, I'm a horror fan (well, maybe a lapsed horror fan these days) and I've never seen a Purge film, because I think the premise is stupid and the action falls more into thriller than horror. I read a detailed spoiler for the first film which was enough to convince me not to bother with any of them.

And while Ducky is crowing about the film and thinking "Well, this is just great! I like how it paints white people as bad guys!", is he going to watch it? Probably not. Certainly in theaters.

Watch the Banana Splits movie. You'll enjoy it.

There are actually interesting things that could have been done with the Purge. The problem is they're making it about politics which is... well... stupid. Like taking a vampire movie and making it about how the wealthy are exploiting the lower classes. Even if it works as a narrative that's not what people are there to see.

I think the real issue is what you consider 'outrage'. I don't think conservatives are going to be going to see this movie. I don't know if that counts as 'outrage' though.
