9. Beat a remake or enhanced port

Saints Row the 3rd Remastered

It doesn't hold up. There were some fun ideas along the way, but I never want to play it ever again.

47. Play a technically unbeatable game for at least six hours

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town

You can lose a lot of time trying to get things going in that game. Honestly not sure if I'll be playing much of anything else for a while.

Sunset Riders

It was through the Arcade Archives, but there wasn't much lost in the translation. It's still fun, and there's still no way I'd win with less than $10 in quarters.

I'd rage quit the game before on the last mission because the combat is terrible. I figured I'd finish it tonight. I'm working on AC: Origins now, and I've got Odyssey for later.

To the Moon - Freebird Games

Short, poignant, and it'll probably stick with me for a while. Currently on sale on the Nintendo eShop, but right now you'll get a better deal through Steam.

Castlevania: The Adventure isn't that hard and I feel attacked whenever someone says it's bad (yes I have multiple battle scars).

Once you get past that screen, you're right. The rest of the game is comparably easy.

This is getting sad. For a group of people who say "Who cares?" you sure need a ton of validation from every single fringe case and example.

Use your own criteria. That's it. Just because a game is buggy or laggy doesnt make it impossible, just difficult (And probably not much fun, so why are you playing it?).

Early Gameboy library, there weren't that many options. Years later, I wanted to see whether I could get past it. Watch the video, you need to nail that jump.

Again, it's beatable though. If it was solely designed to kill you it would be a room of spikes.

This game is frequently littered with slowdown; it's not generally optimized. I'm not sure what the guy in this video used, but this is where people usually die. And then they have to start over and over and over... notice that this is a 30 minute video. This game sucked, and it was only this hard because of wonky jumping and system limitations.

Which game was that? Cause a screen that's designed to make you start over if you run out of lives sounds like a normal Video Game.

Castlevania: The Adventure. There is a screen on the second stage with three falling platforms. Its sole purpose is to artificially extend the life of the game. Im sure there are YouTube videos, but Im not looking them up at work.

Let me explain why they're the same to start

In both cases you're circumventing a lot of the intended experience by using a game mechanic

One you're outright skipping a difficult part, one you're trivializing a difficult part, or many difficult parts, to the point where you're basically no longer experiencing what that portion of the game has to offer to the player.

Like when a segment of the game exists to challenge you and you are using features not in the original release to trivialize that challenge, what you're doing is removing that aspect of the game. Not unlike passwording through some difficult levels, I think.

I used the save state feature on the 3DS to get through one screen that was broken and buggy that was designed to force players to start the game over once they ran out of lives. I dont care what people say, Ill cheat and not bat an eye.

Assassin's Creed Origins

I'm so sorry.

There's a good gameplay loop in there, and I'm near the end, but there are also mechanics that have caused me to rage quit (primarily centered around animations that take far too long - stupid chain assassinations kill horses instead of the rider because they take so long).

It depends on what you mean by "beat". If you mean successfully reaching the end of the game, then sure. If you mean fully completed the game based on skill, then no.

I voted yes because it's not important enough to fight over.

I've got a ton of debt and decided to try Dave Ramsey's approach to getting out of it. I got a job at McDonald's and have worked two shifts there.

They've had me clean the grill for the last two days. I'm having the hardest time doing it, since there are all of these nooks and crannies you need to scrape out, and it takes muscles I haven't really used in a very long time since my primary job is office work.

Everybody else there, it's no big thing. They step in and know exactly what they're doing around a machine that can probably cook them if they're not careful. I'm being showed up with basic machine maintenance by people young enough to be my kids.

They're also able to stand for long periods without any obvious signs of distress. I, on the other hand, feel like my back is going to give out if my feet don't go first. (I bought shoe inserts for the feet, but they don't seem to be helping.)

Yes, I can push buttons to cook the meat, and I can flip the burgers over and today I even helped to assemble a few of the sandwiches. I'm just not very good at a lot of the little things. I don't know how long I am for the fast food business, but I do know that those kids put in a lot of work.

For those wondering, I worked in county government. There were some genuinely corrupt people who went to jail around that time. I wasn't one of them, but I'm convinced that my asking the wrong questions is what brought my situation to a head. That, and the fact that my supervisor was afraid of me for reasons that escape me.

The reason I'm so upset is that they've already screwed me once before with our settlement (I dropped my appeal, they were supposed to give me a neutral reference, they didn't and I only found out a couple of years into my job search). How easy would it have been for some malicious somebody to plant something else in there?

I lost my job 10 years ago. Setting everything else aside, it was my fault for taking the bait and I should have walked away when given the opportunity.

By all rights and measures, Im better off now than I was there. Im just afraid that one or more of the people involved will show up again, or that my old workplace will screw me over somehow. Ive kept some very painful documents on hand just in case something happens.

Id like to be free from all of this. I learned the hard way that this group practically requires me to keep a paper trail, so Id like to figure out when its ok to shred my stuff. If you were in my position, what steps would you take to ensure that you were completely in the clear?
