Everyone was talking about how it was going to be a nominee when it first released but then it didn't do well at the box office and apparently that killed it for everyone for some reason. It's my favorite film of the year so for what seems like a trivial thing to kill its Oscar potential simply baffles me. PrinceKaro posted... So in a year where we have a very weak offering from mainstream animation vs a very strong offering from indie/foreign animation, we still get three whole mainstream movies nominated. Yeah the Academy has no idea what they're doing in regards to animation. There were a bunch of great anime films this year like A Silent Voice but lol at non Ghibli anime films being nominated. So TC is excused. Also missing is The Sexy Brutale, SteamWorld Dig 2 and Thimbleweed Park. Some of the decisions the writers made were iffy like the thing with Leia (though some have explained it so it's okay I guess) and Luke dying earlier than expected. But other than that, I think it was a well put together film. Definitely the best one of the new films. AquaArcane posted... LeonhartFour posted...I didn't have any more trouble understanding Yoda than in any of the other movies. Nah. It seems more like Finn/Rose and Rey/Kylo Ren to me and the later might never happen. I agree, Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 are both two of my favorite games of all time now if we do like a top 25 or something (not sure exactly where they would place though). Divinity: Original Sin II definitely comes the closest to them thus far. Though not quite a favorite for me. But it's really excellent and absolutely deserves to be played before years end if your PC can handle it. I actually fully expect Super Mario Odyssey to be able to compete with both Breath of the Wild and Persona 5 for me.
