True, but Smash is suppose to be a celebration of gaming franchises and characters. It stops being that when it extends beyond that. Cloud and Joker appear in spinoffs, but their main games have never been on Nintendo platforms. Regardless, besides Gordon Freeman, all the characters I listed have appeared on Nintendo platforms. --- Video Games are pretty cool. |

And do we really need more FF characters? And Waluigi and Alucard are already Assist Trophies. Here are some potentially better options: Ryu Hayabusa, Scorpion, Doomguy, Heihachi Mishima, Crash Bandicoot, Lara Croft, Gordon Freeman. --- Video Games are pretty cool. |

For me, I like variety. I enjoy role playing as a variety of different type of characters in games, DND, etc. So for me, Kassandra seemed more interesting from a design standpoint. She also fits the story better and is considered the canon option. Which often can impact someone's decision to play as one or the other. It's kind of like with Dishonored 2. Yes, you can play as Corvo, but the story is clearly written with Emily in mind first and foremost. Though she is also the more played one, at least according to the trophies (there are two trophies, one for beating the game with Emily, and one for beating the game with Corvo, with Emily's having a higher percentage). Though I suppose Dishonored 2 is a less played game than AC: Odyssey. --- Video Games are pretty cool. |

Mostly because of the kind of game it is and just that there were ten other games that were more prominent. AC is also not a game typically GOTY nominated (unless it's a top 10 like my list is), but with how popular AC is, and the fact that it'll have DLC throughout the year to keep it in peoples minds (and likely fix most issues people have), I think it'll stick. --- Video Games are pretty cool. |

I think these will probably be the top 10 of the year: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Baldur's Gate III Cyberpunk 2077 Doom Eternal Final Fantasy VII Remake Ghost of Tsushima Half-Life: Alyx Hollow Knight: Silksong The Last of Us Part II Ori and the Will of the Wisps *I don't believe Elden Ring and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will release in 2020. *I don't have faith in Microsoft to pull off Halo Infinite. *I need to see the new rumored Paper Mario before I commit to it possibly being a GOTY contender.
