Yeah I think if we ever get a remake of P1/P2 in full, modern 3D style it would be a ground-up remake that keeps more or less the same story and characters but drastically reworks how it is told to be more in line with modern Persona.

I don't really know how they'd do that, having played 2, but I think its more likely than keeping them the same.

But realistically I don't think either is going to happen.

That might actually be the best idea. To remake them, but rework them to be more like the rest of the series. But it would be a ton of effort and probably super unlikely to happen, yeah.

Microsoft will probably be at both. They're just not using the LA Convention Center and doing their own thing at the Microsoft Theater as they have in the past. We'll still get Xbox news that week. Sony hasn't done E3 since 2018, so this isn't surprising. Nintendo not being at E3 is surprising, but as mentioned before, they might be gearing up for their next console with Metroid Prime 4 as a launch title. And all the Switch might have left in June is Pikmin 4 and maybe a couple of smaller things.

the soundtrack seems to be as perfect as the first game's, and there's cross-over character sections now so there's no reason to think this won't be an improvement over what was already an exceptional first entry.

This is one of the reasons I'm very excited about the game. It can fix all the issues we had with the first game, both gameplay-wise and story-wise, and improve on all the good things the original had as well. And it seems like the devs are very receptive to feedback, so there's no reason why it can't. It could really be a stellar sequel and potential GOTY contender depending on how things go.

I feel kind of the same way. I was super excited for Three Houses and loved it, but I'm just not all that excited for Engage for whatever reason.

78 is very good. Nice to see it turn out well.

Q1 is looking really epic right now if everything lives up to expectations.

It seems a little weird to include remasters/straight remakes of older games. I've played very little of AC and I have yet to play LE or CC. So for me, it's RDR2 > Sekiro, but both are stellar.

GoW = GoW: Ragnarok > FE: Three Houses > RE: Village > Ghost of Tsushima

It's 4/5 my own GOTY picks (would choose God of War over SSBU, but it's a close second).

For this I'd say:

Elden Ring > SSBU > RE2 > FF7R > Metroid Dread

I also played Bayonetta 3. I'm behind in the Xenoblade series, so I want to do all that before I get to 3 (which will take a while to say the least, lol). But yeah, I didn't play that many new games this year. Kind of still want to play Pentiment, Tunic, and Vampire Survivors, but we'll see, there are also games in my backlog and replays I want to do, so I might just do that instead.

Ah I didn't know RL2 had been in early access, that explains that (poor Pentiment though!). And obviously this kind of show is going to favour AAA games of a certain genre, it's just a shame they didn't spread the love more throughout the categories (like 4/5 of the Best Score lineup being from the GotY group is underwhelming). I don't rate these particular awards at all but the one consistent positive that can come from awards shows is getting more eyes on a lesser known piece of art that would otherwise be ignored, so this year's token indie being the already widely memed CatGame is a bit of a letdown.

...All that being said, I can't speak to the quality of any of these games so uh maybe it's all fine >_> The only game here I've played is Tunic, which I love but is definitely not for everyone.

Rogue Legacy 2 might have been in Early Access for a while, but so was Hades, and that got a bunch of GOTY nominations in 2020.

Tbh, I would have replaced A Plague Tale with it, but I haven't played those games. I need to give them a go I guess. I will do it after Ragnarok I guess.

It's still the same people that brought in the Japanese voices that are screwing over the English ones.

Japanese voicing from Japanese companies are known for being low paying as well.

Yeah, if you want to do a universal boycott for voice actors in video games, you aren't going to be playing many if any Japanese developed/published games.
