It's never easy. You have to knead and rise the dough for hours before it's ready to bake. It sounds like it should be simple but it's an extremely long process.

My understanding was that the bread maker did all this for you. You literally just have to measure out and put the ingredients into the bread maker.

TBH, if you have a stand mixer, you can do the same but you just have to slap it into a pan and into the oven. The worst part is the kneading which the mixer does for you. I guess the proofing are additional steps that the bread maker does for you. But it's waiting. I get that it's supposed to be as easy as possible, but you really don't need just a single utility thing.

I have a mixer with a kneading attachment though I never used it. I only ever use it for batters and stuff like that.

I thought they just baked the bread into a perfect loaf shape. If they also prepare the dough for you, that could be worth it but I looked at a few and they seem really cheap so I'd just be careful about what you're buying.
