That's not true. It's just NES games right now. They're adding online functionality.

As long as they keep adding gimmicks, it wont change in the future. Isnt it the best-selling console of all time now?

Dont get me wrong, I bought one myself a few months ago and had a good amount of fun playing BotW but the way I relax I like to be able to switch (ha) between games and streaming services frequently so my PS4 is the go-to console. Switch has been collecting dust for a while now. Plus more and better exclusives is nice, along with more 3rd party games.

The Wii U is pretty underrated, tbh. This probably isn't a popular opinion but I think the tablet craze at the time of its release kind of hurt it, because the trend at the time was for increasingly sleek designs and the Wii U gamepad had all that border which made it look old and clunky.

Yeah, that's my impression. People are buying up the system but the only worthwhile software is first-party, and there's only so much of that.

Not sure what the plan is for emulation. They are rolling out NES games for free (well, a couple bucks a month) so theres that.

Nintendo online multiplayer has always sucked so no surprise there.

The only glaring thing from that list is the Ethernet port.

Also my wired speeds are consistently faster than my WiFi speeds.

Plus not every house has full wifi coverage in every room. Most times people just use the one their ISP gives them and live with it because they aren't technically minded, so if it's a large house or there are a lot of walls between the router and someone's room they're pretty much fucked without ethernet.

Is the bus really the bottleneck here? For gaming?

For file transfer, absolutely. But for gaming? Idk, i have single digit ping on my universities wifi.

Probably has more to do with, back in the day at least, the unreliability of the tech. If people are having a hard time gaming online with the switch, my guess is that it would be more likely due to the way the servers are hosted.

For server side gaming it might not matter but games like Smash use player side for connection and wired makes a difference.

Copper wires are vastly less prone to interference than radio waves.

It's arguable that wi-fi is actually getting worse at the tech improves, because it's more crowded. Go get a wifi analyzer app, and just look at all the wireless networks around you, and note the dumbasses who stray from channels 1, 6, and 11 on 2.4GHz.

not if you're using a decent wifi network.

the primary issue people are having with that game is poor ping. if you've got a decent wifi network (ie. not using the shit router that your ISP gives you) you can keep ping low enough that it doesn't matter.

The (allegedly) irreplaceable batteries in the other controllers will turn to crap after about two years regardless, simply due to the chemistry.

You're using shitty batteries. That's the only explanation.

Wii U and even more so Switch Pro controllers have extremely long battery life, but I still have to charge my controllers about once every 2 weeks while my XBox One controller goes for months without having to change the batteries.

X1 using AAs is a good thing. You have battery options instead of being stuck with the cheapo built-in irremovable battery that lasts for 4 hours after 2 years.

Buy yourself a $15 rechargable AA set that lasts 40 hours per charge and you can switch them out on the fly instead of having to hook up and become a wired controller for a few hours.
