That's true, but it can be a noble choice too, and we shouldn't demean people for making that choice. Because if we do, then we'd have no cops, and only the most extreme of us actually want to live in a society with no police, where anybody can do whatever they want. Unless you actually want zero police, then you shouldn't use "being a cop is a choice" as an excuse for using slurs against them.

The bad cops deserve to be punished like the worst of criminals. But good cops are needed by society. So demeaning the entire profession is really scummy.
