Once upon a time my church group went with our summer homestay kid to Wisconsin Dells with intent to go to Noah's Ark Waterpark and stay in a cabin on the lake. Honestly I wasn't in the mood for going to the waterpark. Instead I hung out with my old science teacher and his brother who had come out to check on their cabin and do some hiking in the area. We spent all day hiking and looking for rare orchids. Late in the afternoon we found one, and my science teacher's brother looked at me a said "Isn't it great that on days like this that you can feel like you've lived more than just one day of your life?" I remember being so struck by that that it crystallized my love of the outdoors and nature.

Every time I see an orchid in the wild I'm slammed back to that day, and I recall a small part of how I got to where I am now.

I've tried a lot of animated sitcoms lately, as a way of chasing the high from my King of the Hill watchthrough. By far, my favorite new one I've tried is Bless the Harts. Season 1 was fairly rough in terms of animation and dialogue, but I stuck with it because I liked the characters... and man, they have NAILED Season 2 so far. It's fantastic and criminally underrated.

Also tried The Great North and Duncanville, but didn't care for them at all, unfortunately.

I really try not to let fanbases scare me off from media. But, I made exceptions for Lost and The Walking Dead. The discourse surrounding those shows was insufferable, especially the latter, and that killed any interest I had in watching either one.

The first Sonic was a lot better than I expected. I watched it for Jim Carrey, who really is outstanding as Robotnik, but ended up liking James Marsden's role a lot too. I'll see this.

I feel you, OP - I've never been a "lyrics guy," generally. But there are some songwriters who can grab my ear. Donald Fagen and (R.I.P.) Walter Becker from Steely Dan are the best examples - as great and polished as the music is, the stories they tell are vital to the experience and elevate Steely Dan to being a top-tier group.

Curtis Mayfield is another longtime favorite, and as far as newer artists go, I think Lianne La Havas and Kadhja Bonet do a particularly good job.

See all those "$GME to 10k!! " posts on WSB? The $1 AMC PT is the other side of the spectrum. It's a 100% emotionally-charged play and about as likely to actually happen.

I'm partial to Season 6 as far as The Simpsons goes. Starts off with my favorite episode ("Bart of Darkness") and just stays fantastic from there.

King of the Hill arguably peaked during its fifth season. "Ho Yeah!," "Luanne Virgin 2.0," "The Buck Stops Here" ("MAH DADDY'S HAVIN' A HEART ATTACK!!"), "The Perils of Polling"... there's no shortage of iconic episodes in that season.

If you don't count spin-offs, there's also Animal Crossing, whose fifth game (New Horizons) is by far its most popular and culturally significant release.

Robinhood finally went from 1.1 to 1.0 on the Play Store. You love to see it.

Still deciding which service to shift to. It seems like E-Trade is favored so far. Not looking forward to the $75 transfer fee, but at least that'll be the last time Robinhood has me over a barrel.

Pac-Pix was fucking terrible, to the point where you just had to laugh. It embodies everything people nailed early DS software to the cross for: dreadful touch-screen recognition, repetitive gameplay and a total lack of depth ("IT'S A TECH DEMO!"). Wild to think people paid $30 for this once upon a time, huh?
